Where do I start?
I have an Archos 604 WiFi that is very nice but it could be better. The firmware is open source and I have the source code downloaded on my computer but I know next to nothing about it.
I'm expecting this to be a very large project that will take a very long time. Any hints would be helpful.
The source code can be found at http://www.archos.com/support/download/software/gpl_notice.html

Ghetto Guy posted this link in the IPod Touch thread in AG.

Looks like at the model compared, it is the same price as the Ipod Touch, ($399) but has much more storage.
Also looks like you could pick up one with flash memory and less storage for $199.
They are cool...

I posted a link about the Archos 605. I just have a 604 but it's pretty similar.
I got it for $235 and it has a 30 GB hard drive, 4.3 inch touch screen, and wireless internet.
The 604 doesn't have flash support like the 605 and the only size available is 30 GB. It still blows any iPod out of the water.

Thanks guys. I would love something that would allow me to surf at WiFi locations without having to cart around the MacBook

Get the 605WiFi, the 604 doesn't have flash support so you cant watch youtube videos on it. Thats one of the features I wanted to add.
The 605 is available in a few sizes too, from 30 GB to 160. You should look for one at pricegrabber.com
