"He only loves to dream successful ideas" (God)
This brings God down to human level.
It also gives God a human conscience.
Reality?
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? Ps. 8:4
Why would God even BOTHER with man? why? Whay would God even think of man?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour..vs.5
What level has God put man on? Below angels.
because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Rms 8:7,8
Entertaining people, using the word "God" to elevate one's speech, will not bring salvation. Pompous man and his loquaciousness can not bring people to Jesus.
Where did the sinner and Jesus' shed blood go in Schuller's verbosity?
Missing.
There is no salvation in a message of positive thinking, God's dreams for you, nor goodness of God.

excuse me if I just don't listen to this. I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with him.
I have to ask why Shulers church hasn't grown more than it has. Only the hollywood elite seem enamored with his humanistic teachings.

wow - that Ididnt know.
His grandaughter was on Laguna beach and I must say I found her to pretty comitted to her Faith.

Well, I can't say as I've ever heard the man's name before now, but there wasn't much of substance in that video. I got the vague impression that the compiler didn't care much for the man, but mostly it was about two minutes of seizure-inducing cinematography, with a couple quotes which may or may not be in context thrown in somewhere amidst it all.
At any rate, I don't think the phrase "God only dreams up successful ideas" is all that problematic in itself. It's an image I probably wouldn't use, but I fail to understand how it brings God down to the human level or gives God a human conscience. It's pretty clear to me that he's using "dreams up" as roughly synonymous with "thinks up," or "comes up with," or "devises," or any other phrasing you want to use for "to have an idea."
As I say, I don't know any more about him than is shown in that video, but all that video gives me is a guy who looks like your typical slick TV preacher, without really telling me anything at all about him. If I'm supposed to be ready to call the man a heretic after that little clip, then there should've been more substance, and less frenetics.

Also, the thread title is misleading: the video doesn't include his "thoughts on Expository Preaching." It only includes him using the phrase once.

God's view of a "successful idea" and man's view of a successful idea are mostly diametrically opposed. To our Heavenly Father, the excruciating death of His beloved Son on a Roman cross was a successful idea, because it was Their plan ,from the foundations of the earth, on how sinful humans would be saved from eternal justly deserved punishment.
The "careers" of God's prophets in the O.T. and the walk of His Apostles in the N.T. could appear to be crashing failures in the eyes of men, But God, Whose ways are higher than mans' ways, sees their walk as wonderful successes because His plan for all eternity is being worked out! That plan is His beloved family of human beings who believe upon Jesus Christ, and are willing to be conformed to His image in this life, that the Glory of God may be shown for all eternity.
To men like Robert Schuller, Rick Warren, and others who shove and hustle to be on top in this world, the Gospel of Jesus Christ with its bloody cross and His call to follow Him in all humility, is repulsive! We are told by the Apostle Paul not to be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but rather to preach it. Schuller and others like to preach "self esteem", worldly success, the basic "goodness" of man (:puke), embracing a "form of Godliness but denying the power thereof".
Beware of those who are building kingdoms in this world, Beware of those who preach the basic goodness of man and glorify achievement and success in this life. Jesus said His Kingdom is not of this world, and we are to humble ourselves like little children if we want to be a part of it. The message of God through our Lord Jesus Christ is the opposite of Schuller's and many others in "high places". Whom do we serve? "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord."!!!

Anything that denies the deity of Jesus Christ and the absolute truth of His Word :doh, unfortunately.
