This isn't based on scripture; however, remember that when man got so arrogant and full of pride, he built the Tower of Babel. Then, God separated the human population and confused the language. Now, fast forward to 2011. The peoples of the world are no longer separated and language is no longer a barrier. Shoot, my little cell phone I have can take my words and interpret them into over 100 different languages. I've felt for a very long time that this is one of the primary 'signs' that the end of the age is close.

Let's think this through backwards.
If Jesus doesn't come for another 1000 years, what will have to happen in that time? Israel must be a nation when He returns, and continually a nation from today, since the Bible prophecies do not indicate Israel going back and forth between being a nation or not, or several diasporas.
Most nations do not last 1000 years. The Treaty of Verdun in 843 created an area similar to France today, but then it got carved up again, so you cannot say that France as a nation has existed for a 1000 years. (since 1328 perhaps) China has been around for age, but they have a very sequestered history and geography.
Israel, on the other hand, is a small country surrounded by enemies and I do not think it is possible for Israel to remain a nation for another 1000 years. 50? 100 at the most?
R&H, I like your reasoning. Very sensible and biblical. :thumb

I am looking for Jesus to come back soon. That said, He will come in His time, not mine. I don't have to know when that is be it tomorrow next month or a thousand years from now. I don't believe that salvation hinges on how close you think we are to the end times.

Remember, Israel was prophesied to be regathered to their own land only TWICE. The first one was after the Babylonian captivity, and the last time is now and it is ongoing. They will never be thrown out of their land again, God made that promise to them.
There is no way that the current condition can possibly continue for more than a few months at the most IMO.
For the Israelites to be massacred and thrown out of Israel now would violate scripture because he would need to re-gather them a third time and that would show Him weak (which He certainly is not by any shake of the imagination), and He then would have lied in the Bible, and that He is not capable of doing.
God is all powerful and all knowing, nothing is out if His control and I thank God for that.
The tensions are just too high over there right now, and the Arabs have itchy trigger fingers. I have watched the news and been over awed at how God has been over ruling the powers that be to keep the lid on. Praise to Him. But it is not defusing at all, and we are on the razor edge of a major war, and the world politicians all appear to have had a nervous breakdown together. Nothing they do makes rational sense.

You know, this is been a bit of speculation on my part as well... God told man to separate and go out and populate the earth and did it through confusing the languages. He also said that together, they could do anything. Genesis 11:6 I believe is where it is. I think it was a good picture of our arrogance back then, and now here we are again... gathering together again (in a way) with language no longer a barrier, the arrogance of men proclaiming that we can do anything.
It's about time for another judgement.

Why 100+? Why not a thousand, or a hundred thousand? Why not 100 days, or 100 minutes...100 seconds? Every number thrown out there will be but a wild uneducated guess without the backing of scripture.
I wouldn't say that you are heretical or an unbeliever though, just missing an awful lot. I'm in no way making accusations, and forgive me if it comes out wrong, but His return has always seem such a distant event to me, regardless of what in the world is going on, when I'm not putting on my whole armor..staying in the Word and in prayer.
It doesn't matter how many men have so wrongly set dates or tried to make scripture fit events in their excitement and longing for His return. Events fit Scripture and Scripture says, look up NOW, in Jesus' own Words. :hug

If the world is the way it is now I sure would hate to see it in 1000 years:fear

:sad Very true. There's even a BabelPhone now:
BabelPhone offers to national and multinational companies and professionals in all areas a complete range of services covering global communication and broadcasting of multilingual content: translation, interpreting, multilingual events organization, etc., as well as training programmes, via telephone and in-company, orientated towards managerial positions and professionals.
BabelPhone's icon pic magnifies the dictionary words "magnifico" (...grandee), "magnify" (increase apparent size of with lens...intensify...extol), magniloquent (lofty in expression). "Magniloquent" with its meaning is also their banner.

Matthew 24:21-22
21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
