I hope we get to go before 2012. There's the craziness of that year and another horrifiying election. I really don't want to be here. "Lord please spare us from further lunacy in this world. Let those who wish to destroy Your truth handle this tribulation to come and may they take advantage of their last chance to repent instead of taking the mark. Amen."

Is it possible for me to believe that Jesus might not return for thousands of years and still be considered a Bible Believer? Or would this make me heretical?
I believe Jesus could return in our lifetime, but I also believe it is possible it may be thousands of years away.
Try looking at this from the other side. What possible advantage is there in believing the rapture is 1,000 years away? Or at any time besides right now for that matter? I can't think of any reason to do so.
If the Lord shall tarry another 1,000 years and my spirit is long gone to heaven by the time of the rapture, I would much rather stand before the Lord and say "I looked to the skies every day for you". I certainly do not want to be the flat-footed virgin who didn't buy oil, when the groom came at a time *we* did not expect. If the Lord decides to wait, that's His business - but He told me to wait and to wait expectantly. That is my offering of obedience.
It's really the same thing for me when it comes to Biblical interpretation, especially of future prophetic events. I figure I'm not smart enough to know what God MEANT to say (well, in addition, I've yet to meet someone who is), so I choose to simply take what God DID say. When I see Jesus face-to-face, I'd rather say "Oh, I thought that those who remained and were alive would actually meet you in the clouds" as opposed to some other metaphysical explanation that some choose to take, should that or others turn out to be something symbolic we've all missed. That's why I believe in a 7-day creation, and a world-wide flood, and a virgin birth, and a resurrection of the dead, and a pre-trib rapture of the saints. In essence, that makes me very much a fundamentalist as I am a simple man who simply believes what God has plainly said. While I'm not one for labels, that one I wear to the glory of God.
It's been some time now but when I first read the Word, it was with the intent of "proving" it wrong. And it was the already-fullfilled, literal prophecy that opened my eyes, by the grace of God, allowing me to become one of His.
Jesus is coming very soon, in His timeframe. And remember, the signs we are looking for today are signs for the trib, not signs for the rapture. So if we are seeing trib signs left and right (as we are seeing every day), we know the Glorious event of our translation is so much closer as a result. Maybe today! So brother, be encouraged by these Words!

I agree. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Indeed, if we see the signs of His Second Coming so actively, then the moment where He will catch us up to heaven is even closer. I long for the moment of the trumpet blast.

Has it hit anyone else, with these Middle East happenings, just how near to the end we could be? :yeah Consider this scenario.
Peace treaties often follow the immediate heels of major war. We know that the Palestinians want their state to spark war with Israel, and if they make ONE move, Israel will CRUSH them. All it will take will be one wrong move from Assad, and Syria is struck personally, promised Netanyahu (Isaiah 19).
The Palestinian state is created and the entire world rallies, announcing Israel is carved.
Israel will have nothing to do with this, Jerusalem will be a stumbling block.
The Palestinians now have excuse to start war with Israel, surrounding enemies also.
The Psalm 83 Coalition surrounds Israel and makes a tumult.
Israel in swift, sharp strikes begins to destroy her enemies.
Assad attempts to join the party, and loses Damascus as a result. War continues.
The world is shocked and the Middle East is leveled.
The world cries out for peace and security, sudden destruction (rapture).
The AntiChrist arises, the first seal also: False Peace and Security.
The Second Seal: War. Gog/Magog, enormous destruction. The AntiChrist rises in power.
Be on the watch: The Palestinians are actively pursuing a late 2011 war. This COULD be the biggest rumble of Bible prophecy we've seen in a long, long time.

I hope thats the way things will turn out but I'm also cautiously excited. Something could happen that we've never thought of before...hope I'm wrong though.:candle

We cannot know the date or hour, but we can know the season. The signs we are watching today can take our breath away.
Revelation 4 can happen any day. IMHO, your scenario is of a fall war is a viable concern.

It's true, God is good at plot twists. Whatever happens now though will only push prophecy forward. I believe this could be the last quote-on-quote 'lull'.

You know I been playing just about the same scenario in my head about what is about to happen. It's Luke I can feel it in my bones or somethibg I don't know how to explain it. I was telling my sig other just about the same timeline a few months ago and of course he is unsaved so he thinks it will all just be coincidence. We also have to remember that the USA needs to fall first tho and I have a feelin that won't be much long either. Otherwise how would the Antichrist be able to convince all of especially America to receive the mark? Everyone would have to be desperate. But would the fall of America be after the psalm 83 war? If we got involved which we most likely would directly or indirectly that would put us in over our heads with our troops and of course money. There are something's that need to fit in too and it's hard to tell sometimes what goes where.

Closer than yesterday. And that's the truth.
