I think that you should leave the Today's Posts and Search functions open to unregistered users. This would help spread the word and make it more accessible to 'lurkers' or those thinking about joining the site as members.

Search is a CPU killer. We could get virus attacks on our search function.

I do think we should have posts open to the public.
