I just finished reading volume 7, and that is exactly what Rowling is hinting at. If the fist six just gaved a few ambiguous ideas about this fact, volume 7 makes it perfectly clear. Harry dies for the wrongs of the wizard world, and he resurects himself trough his own power, without external help. And afterwards, he claims that the power of his love, and most importantly, HIS BLOOD that he was willing to spill for his friends has the power to protect them from curses and death. Now this might be just me, but I feel it's a great disgrace to the Gospel and to an otherwise great piece of literature.:ohno

NOT MEANT TO BE AN ARGUEMENT! They are just books. Why christians attack them and her I will never understand. She has helped reignite a passion in reading. That was being lost with the sit down and watch tv generation instead of use your God given imagination to entertain yourself. What cracks me up is that you can find "The Chronicles of Narnia" at Christian bookstores but not Harry Potter, why? Aslan claims to be God and dies in place of the kids. Then comes back to life. It also has mythical creatures and magic. What am I missing? Why are they acceptable and not Harry Potter?
The reason Harry had to die was because Voldermort inadvertantly made him into a Horcrux during the botched murder. When Harry was talking to Dumbledore after he died if you remember that hideous childlike thing it was a sliver of Voldermort's soul. That had to be seperated so Harry could finally dispatch Voldie and save the wizarding world. It had nothing to do with his blood and it didn't protect his friends. I don't remember reading anything about his blood protecting them. Maybe I need to reread it see if I missed something about blood protection extending to his friends. But I don't think so because it would only protect them from Voldie like his mothers protection did to him when she sacrificed herself. And seeing as how Voldie was destroyed they wouldn't need protecting from him.
I think your reading too much into something that is supposed to be fantasy and entertaining. Of course both of us should prob. be reading our Bibles more instead of garbage like that. :)

Her books have mesmerized an entire generation.

Satan always mimics what is sacred.
Her books have mesmerized an entire generation.
I too saw a distinct parallel with Jesus in the last book. What Rowling succeeded in doing was giving the occult an acceptable face. Whilst she has indeed reignited a passion for reading (my wife, who is a teacher, would vouch for this), it has been at a price.

i've never read any of the harry potter books---in the same way that i've never taken a needleful of heroine or snacked on a bowl of rat poison.
witchcraft is not harmless. the defence that "it gets kids interested in reading" makes about as much sense as saying that gang rape "gets kids interested in social activities".
people read satanic propoganda disguised as children's literature and then act surprised that it blasphemes Christ? what else would one expect it to do?

For the people who have a problem with Harry Potter being a Christ-like character...
Do you have the same problem with Luke Skywalker?

I thought the metrix was sort of "Christ" copycat too.
And then, there's always Narnia
