Ok, it's debatable but about every six months I will have a semi-intelligent response to a posted thread, so I'll log on and give it a whirl. Sometimes it will take quite a while to gather my thoughts and present them in more than one paragraph, and when I hit the submit thread button it tells me I can't do that and I discover I am logged out. More than once I have lost the ultimate and final answer to everyone's question. :preach

Is there a timeout thingy on this board? I've learned to copy my posts beforehand so I can just do a paste after I log on again, but this is mildly annoying. Any advice?

Do you mean that when you log in with the screen that comes up, your post disappears?

Whenever that happens to me, and I just log in with that screen, and the post is still saved.

Yes, my information usually will disappear when I use the screen that comes up. And I know that notepad is my friend. I was wondering why it happened in the first place.

Dang computers. I never had problems like this with my trusty manual Underwood.

I've written posts before and then the site times-out when I hit "submit", but with Firefox, I'm usually able to just hit the back button and viola, every thing's still there.

I use Firefox as well, perhaps that makes a difference. Also, using the copy hot key (CNTRL^C) before you post will save it into a buffer. If you then are logged out, when you log back in, use paste (CNTRL^P) and you can paste your post in without opening any other programs.

That's what I've been doing and it works well. I just wondered if there was a problem with my computer or something I was doing wrong. I use Firefox as well.

Hi Clutch Cargo,

I am having the same problem and also wondered the same thing, if there was a 'timeout' set on this board. Also, if i log on and stay on for awhile without moving/posting...and i refresh the page, i will find myself logged out - everytime.

i followed the advice at the top of this forum for log out problems, and still, i am getting logged out. it is frustrating.

I've experienced the same problem. My solution was to write what I wanted in my Inbox as a new email, then log in to forum and copy and paste. Then just deleted the email. Helps with the frustration.

I'm always logged in, even after closing a window and opening a new one many hours later, I'm still logged in. Probably has more to with your security setting for cookies rather than the board.
