My friend down the street told me about his young son contracting a new viral disease. The Doctors still can not explain it but they know it is a virus of some type, but not Staph. The boys facial skin started to fall off along with high fever. It was put into the hospital for 2 weeks. They checked for staph but said it was some sort of virus that they have never seen. The boy miraculously healed and is doing better. The skin is repairing itself. Has anyone else heard of this?:panic

These super strain staph infections are becoming far more and alarmingly common. In part it's been brought with over-use and reliance of antibiotics on every imaginable ailment. Apparently, 'sterile' hospitals are also one the best places to contract them.

They said it wasn't staph. A virus is different. That is worrisome as viruses are much harder to treat. Never heard of it though.:idunno

Did the dr's check for Ritters? I only ask because my nephew was hospitalised with this 2 years ago. It's also known as scalded skin syndrome and his symptoms were uncannily similar to the ones you have mentioned. It IS a Staph virus, but the Consultant said at the time it wasn't something they would test for or expect. I'm adding a link, let me know if it doesn't work. www.emedicine.com/EMERG/topic782.htm
Let us all know how things get on xxx :pray

There was a guy on the news a couple of years ago that went swimming in Galveston Bay and had a cut on his leg at the time. He developed some sort of virus in the cut that was eating his flesh. I never heard a follow up report as to whether he healed or passed on. Maybe someone on the board remembers that incident and could it be the same thing? :idunno

How could a virus eat human flesh when viruses are not living organisms.

First, Staph is a bacteria, not a virus. Secondly, lots of the bays along the Texas coast are so contaminated that bacterial infections are very common nowadays, often the so-called "flesh-eating" type, which is caused by a bacteria, not a virus. As for this young boy, I've never heard of this, however, some really strange things are happening, like a mosquito-borne disease in Italy from mosquitoes that are normally only found in tropical areas. I'm sure we'll see more strange illnesses pop up as the time of our getting outta here gets closer:yeah
