Since we have the thread going on the other board, I figure I'd start one here. For all you RS players, I am Nicholai ii , I've been playing for about 5 years, and am currently going for level 99 in magic and skill total of 1900. Most of my stats are pretty high, so if you need any help, just let me know.

How long does it take to build a decent pk in that game?? I'm currently working on a nephilim mage channeler in Shadowbane, taking a break from pking in UO. Someone gave me a link to Runescape but it looks so cartoony. Is pvp worth it? Can you grief people?? How long would it taketo make a good pk griefer killing gold hoarders at spawns?

Hey all:
I was reading the previous long thread (I think it got up to about 7 pages). I've been playing for about 2 months on the free side. My char is Isheyurlord. I've been focusing on mining (61 now) and smithing (49 now). I actually really enjoy the enterprise nature of the game. I used to play UO many moons ago, but hated the pvp and pk aspect of the game. I love that in this game you can have a very broad range of activities and destinations that are outside the realm of having to deal with PKers. I really enjoy hearing other players talk about tips and strategies. I play more then I should like to because I get so focused sometimes on getting that next level. Now that I am in the mining guild, I am happy that getting coal is a much easier task. I have done all but 2 of the free side quests. They get a little tedious with all the running around you have to do, but it was a good way to learn my way around the world. I have my fighting skills up to 40/33/31 so I will at some point get back to that.
Anyway, If you all are ever on line, look me up. I'll most likely be found caked in coal dust, living the life of a blue collar miner, dreaming of the day when I can make (not buy) my own rune armor!!:woohoo

God Bless

Heck, i'm still trying to figure out all your terms, like grief people..

You can not attack other players unless your in the wild areas, which are well north of the towns. There are many skills to work, so building your guy (or girl) up depends on what you want to work on. I have the ADD issues, not wanting to train 1 thing for very long.

When you get killed, you respawn and the big city, away from PVP areas. You can lose (and take) items from other players in the wild through combat, but getting alot of gold from them usuallly doesn't happen.

Dan~~~>thinks it looks good, since you don't buy any software

Sorry for not reponding earlier Enoch, but you can build a pker and start pretty much right away. In the wilderness (only place you can pk), there are levels and you can go as far in as you want but can only attack players with levels plus or minus the level you are in (ex level 5 player in level 3 wild can attack players from level 2 to 8). That being said, in RS most pkers are called pure which means they only concentrate on 1 type of fighting style so that their combat level stays low compared to that skill, which basically means you can usually beat more balanced players (who are generally weaker). So to sum up, you can start pking right away, and if you are only going to concentrate on combat you can level fairly quickly, I would guess less than a month depending on your play time, to get a decent pure pker up and running.

Hmm, ok thanks for the info. Im still filling an account on Shadowbane, all pvp chars. But I'm getting bored with the politics. I like the freebies so maybe I'll hop in soon and give it a try. As long as I can make a decent mage quickly I'm ineterested. I like the not being able to attack players way out of your range idea, thta's pretty cool.

Hopefully I'll see you there.

Hey Dan - grief means be a bad guy bascially. I wont get into specifics but role play a villian. I'm laid back and nice in real life but in games horders and spawn mooches annoy me, they make it hard for new players to advance and get loot. So, do things lilke hide at a spawn and pk those that get fat loots, loot them up and throw it all away or delete it, stick around and res kill them when they come right back looking for their stuff wreaing their gear, etc. Grief.

I know, not very nice but hey it's just a game.

:doh lol.. didn't I say something like "It was challenging, but fun" .. for future reference challenging = hard. Just don't be a goof like me and lose all your gregree's by dying with all of them in your invy, keep at least keep one in the bank so you don't have to do alot of the quest over again to get them back. :doh

P.S. 99 Mage update - I'm about 470k xp from the goal, need to cast 6k more enchants in the Mage Training Arena. Should have it by my birthday on May 4th. (1901 Total as well). I've been thinking we should have an all RRBB (old and new) drop party to celebrate.
