I have a question for all you homeschooling mom's. Is it possible to have a full time job and still homeschool your kids? I have toyed around with the idea of homeschooling my kids, my son is 5 and will be starting kindergarten in the fall and my daughter is 3 and won't start kindergarten until 2010. But i am a single parent and i do have to work (don't have a choice on that) but i also have wanted to homeschool my kids too. I always thought that i couldn't do it all and be supermom, but i was wondering if you ladies had any advice on the subject or knew of someone that was able to do both???

:hugI'm looking for advice also. I start a new job this week after 10 years at home. My son is older and is able to work some on his own. Maybe after working out some kinks i'll let you know what worked and what didn't. Do you have family that could help, because they are young? It can be done (homeschooling). I hope this thread will be active. We need to suport one another. Keep praying for the Lords direction.:hug

I hs school too but do work in the home. I do have a neighbor that homeschools her grandchildren while both parents work (she does all her grandkids).

Just a thought.

When I first started homeschooling my kids, 6 years ago, I worked full time. One was in Kindergarten the other was 3rd grade. I worked second shift so I was able to get up around 9 am, do school with them for about 3 hours, take a short nap and go to work. I am lucky to be home full time now but it's do-able if you feel the Lord is leading you to do this. Especially with PreK or Kindergarten work. You should only need a couple hours per day to do the schoolwork with him.

Hope this helps you.

I know a woman that homeschooled her dd and had to work full time as she was a single parent too.

She told me she used the Abeka program with the videos.. I don't know exactly what she did else for daycare and when they studied, etc. But she was successful with it..

HOpe that helps!:heythere

you can school any time of day, as long as you try to keep it consistent ;)

I was like you, I always wanted to homeschool. When I got divorced I thought that dream was gone, but then the Lord opened the way and we've been at it for 6+ years :yay
