Destin or Panama City Beach Area

Hi all. Hope you are all having a good day. My sister is planning a vacation this summer with her family and she told me if I was a good girl I could go with her :thumb. She is looking for a place along the panhandle of Florida. I told her I would ask around.....so here I am asking. Has anyone ever been to the Destin or PCB area? Did you like it?? Any recommendations pro or con would be much appreciated. God Bless!!!

Ft Walton, right next to Destin, better prices, family community and 6 miles from all the attractions in destin. My favorite place to stay is Gulf Dunes. PCB - is dirty and I never liked it. Go to emeraldcoastrentals.com

Ft. Walton is wonderful! I've been visiting there my entire life as my Uncle lives there right off the Bay.

So there you have it, no votes so far for Destin, a few props for Ft Walton and on Panama City Beach accalade.
I wish I could recommend one or the other to you but my suggestion is to simply research it on line and see where the nicest places to stay are etc. I think any of the beaches in that area are pretty much wonderful at least compared to say Daytona or anything on the Atlantic side.

I am not much for Panama City Beach anymore. The place has changed so much over the years I hardly recognise it anymore. How long has it been since you have been there? The town is trying hard to lose the image of the spring break party town. Everything is going to Condo's down there. Even Miracle Strip is gone now in place of Condo's. It really depends on what you are looking for however for me Destin would be more laid back and enjoyable.

Wow, I've been checking these sites out and this looks like a great place to go on vacation. Beautiful! I was wondering about camping. Has anyone been to Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. At $21/night with 4 kids - it may be an idea. Of course maybe not if you figure in fuel for hauling our trailer, but maybe it would equal out.

I lived in Ft Walton Beach until I was 6 yrs old. We still go back down there for vacation every couple of years. As a matter of fact, we took our parents this past summer for their 50th anniversary. We stayed on Okaloosa Island, which is halfway between Destin and Ft Walton. Lot's of great restaurants in Destin but also lots of traffic. The whole area there is so beautiful, you just won't believe the sand on the gulf. The only part I don't like is when that slimy seaweed stuff comes in to the beach sometimes, and also jellyfish. But all in all, I highly recommend it.
