BTW, as to the poll, Nephilim are undoubtedly real. What is under debate is more what they were.
Yuppers!
real as in what Genesis reveals, which is very little, the rest is scriptural gymnastics and eisegesis

I did a quick search and didn't see the topic posted.So has anyone ever read the book of Enoch? Do you believe it to be scripture?.
While this book today is non-canonical in most Christian Churches, it was quoted as a prophetic text in the New Testament (Letter of Jude with also a probable reference in I Peter 3:19,20 to Enoch 6-36, especially 21, 6; 2 Enoch 7:1-5) and by many of the early Church Fathers.
he book consists of five quite distinct major sections:
* The Book of the Watchers (1 Enoch 1 – 36)
* The Book of Parables of Enoch (1 Enoch 37 – 71) (Also called the Similitudes of Enoch)
* The Astronomical Book (1 Enoch 72 – 82) (Also called the Book of the Heavenly Luminaries or Book of Luminaries. )
* The Book of Dream Visions (1 Enoch 83 – 90) (Also called the Book of Dreams)
* The Epistle of Enoch (1 Enoch 91 – 108)
The book is referred to, and quoted, in Jude 14-15
The Book of Enoch describes the fall of the Watchers, the angels who fathered the Nephilim (cf. the bene Elohim, Genesis 6:1-2). The fallen angels went to Enoch to intercede on their behalf with God after he declared to them their doom. The remainder of the book describes Enoch's visit to Heaven in the form of a vision, and his revelations.
The Book of Enoch (also known as 1 Enoch) was once cherished by Jews and Christians alike, this book later fell into disfavor with powerful theologians - precisely because of its controversial statements on the nature and deeds of the fallen angels.

I've never read it nor any of the other Gnostic written works. But suffice it to say that I feel that God inspired certain Books to be written by specific men ordained from the foundation of the world and those Books are the ones that were inspired and ordained to be part of the Book we called the Bible.
That isn't to say that the Gnostic works weren't meant to be read, but I don't believe they were inspired by God Almighty. Therefore, I would take them with a grain of salt especially when they are being used to "compare" scripture with their text.

I'm no scholar but I have read it at least a couple of times because it was refered to in the NT. Yes I beleive it to be scripture, but caution that it is very difficult to understand if you aren't willing to do alot of research into meaning of terms.Still don't understand all of it.He describes things men were never meant to know.......I think.
