Hi Everyone.... PLEASE don't lamb-baste me for what I'm about to say. I just want to relay information WE just received from a friend who is a stockbroker. He called my husband and told him his "boss" at his stock brokerage firm has moved all his clients (or suggested they do it) OUT of the stock market and into bonds or something like that. I know NOTHING about the stockmarket. My husband is a teacher and we pay into his retirement only.

Take the info with a grain of salt if you want. I'm ONLY passing along the phone message I listened to on my husband's voicemail. This guy said the last time his boss did this was in 2000 when the market did something evidentally not good. He said that within a few days of advising his clients to get out of the stockmarket it crashed (or corrected or whatever you call it.)

Please be nice to me if you think I'm sounding false alarms. Even though I hardly ever post here, I thought of you all first. Likewise, if nothing happens, please give me mercy before you judge me!!! hehe. :) I know there are many of you who are FAR more stockmarket-savvy than I! Or at least in your posts you sound that way! :) ~Linda

Thanks for the soft "alert". I've had a similar experience of late. Looks like the "fat lady" is tuning up in the background. May Our Most High protect and provide for the faithful remnanat and the conditions worsen in this country.

What is a bear-market signal?

The obvious one is that the stock markets have been headed in the "wrong" direction for a few months. That is, unless you're selling short, in which case the market is booming right now.

Of course, it's not that difficult to determine which stocks are a good investment right now. You could easily invest in gold or in some gold stocks and likely see some lofty returns in the near future. Or, you could grab hold of a few stocks that recently signaled a turn around (Guess & Bank of America recently hit consecutive days of increase on above-average volume).

Then again, one could very easily argue that now is the time to go shopping for stocks and get some really great bargains.

What is a bear-market signal?

He said immediately. Who knows? Is it at all possible that China is getting ready to dump the dollar and set off a major stock sell-off? Okay, I'm totally "stock-market challenged" so that might not remotely matter.

I am also stock-market challenged. It doesn't matter how much I read I still don't understand it all.
