I recently worked an overtime assignment providing security for a conference involving a group called the Glory of Zion ministries. They really seemed to be part of that Health & Wealth gospel as I barely heard the true gospel at all. Actually, I never did hear it really...I heard Jesus' name mentioned a few times but not often at all. They just kept talking about how 'God' wanted them all to be rich. At one point they were chanting 'glory, power, riches' to the beat of music for about 20 minutes.

Anyway, I got an e-mail from Voice of the Martyrs (an organization helping persecuted Christians) today. Obviously we know, especially in Asia, people are persecuted, jailed, and killed simply for their faith in Christ TODAY. That got me thinking...has it ever been explained by these health & wealth people why that is in this 'modern age'? Do they just say that they're not true believers? Do they simply not acknowledge it? What's the deal?

I'mnot quite sure what your question is? would you mind rephrasing this?

Are you speaking about WOF teachers/churches? :scratch

I suppose I am talking about them...whoever preaches that God wants us all to be 100% healthy all the time and be very, very wealthy. How do those people address the issue that Christians are being persecuted and killed for Jesus Christ and His gospel?

Yep, that would be most of TBN and the W.O.F,ers.

If you are being persecuted, experiencing illness, or do not have wealth it is because you do not have enough faith. One Word of Faith person even said that the reason the apostles were not healthy and wealthy and were persecuted was because they were ignorant of why Jesus REALLY came (apparently to create some sort of paradise on earth where we just have to speak something and it happens). WOF is so disgusting. To say the writers of the gospels, the ones who actually walked with our Lord Jesus Christ, were ignorant..... SICK!

Guess I don't have enough faith in my ability to have faith in my faith, to be a Word of Faither. :tsk

Well, they will be joining in on the persecution of the true saints. The WoF and Charismania crowd are not followers of Christ, but their own bellies.

Good question. Now that you ask it, I don't believe I've ever heard the prosperity preachers ever mention the Christian missionaries who are being persecuted for their faith. I guess that would shoot some holes in their prosperity gospel message.

The Christian missionaries overseas are so humble, and serving. What wonderful people they are. What all of us need to do is, send money to the missionaries, and drop a note to the prosperity preachers letting them know that we "sowed our seed" in fertile soil. :)
