as a reading curriculum that uses real literature and then has comprehension questions, vocabulary ect. that goes along with it? Just reading, nothing else (except perhaps poetry). :hat

You can use as much of their program as you like
I did not require my kids to do the spelling. But they were to do the vocab.

That looks great! Thank you :hat
I am loving the Easy Grammer (that you recommended :cheese) and Sequential Spelling so I plan to continue to use both of these. I've been using Learning Language Arts Through Literature for the past several years but they are weak on grammer and spelling and the only thing I use it for now is the reading/writing/poetry. I am shopping around for something else to fill this void and discontinue using LLATL next year.

Learning Language Arts Through Literature
http://homeschooling.about.com/od/langreadlit/tp/learninglang.htm
Learning Language Arts Through Literature is a complete language arts program for first grade through high school. Using an integrated approach to learning, students learn the skills appropriate for each grade level in the context of real literature.
I have several friends who have used LLATL and loved it because it used real books.

Opps, sorry. I posted before reading that you are NOT needing LLATL. LOL!

I would use LLATL next year "if" I could find it used for very cheap and then just use it for the literature units. I just feel like I am not getting the bang for my buck out of it since I only use it for the reading. But, meanwhile I want to shop around and see what else is out there. Your opinions here are of great value to me, I like to hear what you've used and liked/disliked. :nod

I have LLATL -- i have the gold books... Which one do you need? I would sell them to you cheap if these are the ones you need... I have never used them, thought i would and now i just will probably not. I have both teachers edition and student text.
About Easy Grammar -- The books by Wanda C. PHilips right?! I am using the the violet/purpose ones this year for my oldest -- does anyone know which one you use next color wise year wise? I believe it's the 5/6.

The Open Court series uses real literature, starting with fables, fairy and folk tales, etc. It teaches children to read using intensive phonics.
