Dangit! In the old testament someone is questioning everything and writing about how everything is worthless and meaningless without God. Who was this? What book?

Ashley's right, I think you're referring to Solomon writing in Ecclesiastes. He does some serious soul searching in that book, and comes full circle in the end.

These are the final two verses of the book:

Ecclesiastes 12:
13 Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
