Just checking to see if anyone else is receiving lots of uncirculated bills lately? We are getting our normal amount of cash sales but many of the bills are uncirculated currency. The money is so crisp it won't count well because it sticks together. Many times the bills are even consecutive. We are seeing this in mainly ones and twenties.

Funny thing is these bills are 2003 issue. I wonder where they have been for the last 5 years and why they are suddenly appearing.

Maybe someone has some insight. It is odd for us Ozarkians to get new bills. What we get looks like it's been around the world a dozen times before we get to circulate it.

Just a guess here... Counterfeiting? I read somewhere there are $100 dollar bills floating around that are counterfeit and are really hard to tell them from the real ones. When times get tough some people will stoop to anything.

I worked for a grocery store through college and this seemed to happen on a fairly regular basis. It is standard policy of the federal reserve to destroy aging cash and replacing it with new bills and the closer you live to a population center the greater your chance of getting a shipment of newbies from the bank. Whenever we got thousands of consecutive bills from the bank we know the cashier's drawers would be off at the end of the day as a result of the easy errors. Murphy's law seemed to apply since all the new bills seemed to come out during the winter when everyone's fingers were dry and errors would be easier.
