Dh's store bought out some drugstore stuff and I needed to recolor my hair, so I bought a box of haircolor. It's Herbal Essences 48.7 Passion Berry (which is supposed to be a "spicy red"). When I mixed the developer and the color, it's orange! :doh Will my hair be orange when I rinse the color out? If so, what do I do? I went to the Clairol web site and they don't even make that color anymore. I don't want to go to church tomorrow with orange hair! :ohno Thanks!

The color of the mixture doesn't determine the final color of the hair. I've given up on haircolor in the box because no matter what color I buy, I get red highlights (and I don't mean pretty red, either. It's usually red-orange-gold.) Other people don't seem to have problems with it, so I guess it's my hair's fault.

If you wind up with more red (or orange), there are things you can buy at Sally's or other haircare store that help take the red out. Just ask the employee.

I hope yours turns out beautifully. Let us know.

I want red - just not orange! :shocked I bought a box of dark auburn color once that was purple when I put it on my hair, but it was a nice shade of dark auburn when I washed it out. I'm praying that all will be well when I rinse out the orange stuff, but I have a bad feeling.

Well, I rinsed it out and I looked like - Corky the Clown. (That's a reference for those of us who were kids in the St. Louis area in the '60's. Corky was on a Channel 5 kids' show.) Ds thought it was really funny. :tsk

Thank the Lord that the Sally Beauty Supply store was still open. The lady there took one look at my hair and said, "You need help, don't you?" She told me I needed to cover the orange with brown to tone it down. Please Lord, let this work. I have a job interview on Tuesday.

you need something with "ash" in it.. no golds nor reds

a toner?

I've done this too.. a hair salon may have to correct this on Monday.

I followed the directions the Sally Beauty store lady gave me & left the mixture on my hair for about 15 minutes. I now have a pretty dark auburn shade. Whew! That was a close one! No more Herbal Essence hair color for me!

Great. I love these happy endings. I usually have to visit my Sally's store 3 or 4 times before I get my happy ending.

I am glad that you had a happy ending!!! I have yet to color my hair. I have this fear!!! But I guess since I don't have any gray yet then I am ok.

i highly recommend using Sally's products if you color your hair at home.. There products are much better then the ones at the grocery/ stores!!

AND never bleach your own hair, always have a professional do it if you're going for blonde highlights.. Those almost always turn out orangy, at least for me they do or a not very pretty blondish!

I did my hair once with a different color then i usually do and it was ronald mcdonald red, and i am not kidding! I ended up going to church that way -- b/c Sally's was closed.. It was VERY embarrassing.. :lol2

Glad yours worked out and looks OOH so pretty!! :hug

Oh go have it done, it's such a fun treat! :)Have someone do it for you if you're not sure about doing it yourself.. Highlights or foiling is really a nice way to go as it's not too overwhelming if you're not use to having colored hair.
