I cannot seem to keep my 8 year old daughter well. Since Thanksgiving she has been off and on sick. We had to cancel friends coming over for Thanksgiving because she was sick. Then she got sick twice in December, once with bronchitis, and now she's sick again with 101.3 fever and she's throwing up. This is new, before there was no fever or vomiting. We couldn't do our homeschool because of her being sick, and she's missed quite a bit of school because she's been sick. I don't know what to do anymore. She woke up this morning with a really bad headache, so I gave her some Tylenol. She ate some breakfast, and then about an hour later she was vomiting.
Anyway, this really isn't a rant, I just feel bad for my girl. She feels horrible, and there really isn't much I can do. I can't give her anything because she just throws it up. She's so hungry, but she can't keep anything down. Poor baby.

:hug so sorry. Need to keep those fluids up though. When my son was really sick last year ( strep and flu) they suggested giving him one teaspoon of water at a time every 5 or so min. The body feels the full glass of whatever but it can't seem to figure out one teaspoon every so often. Also room temperature works better too.
you also want to let the fever do the job. :nod It's killing the bad dudes.
remember though always check with your dr. when you start to wonder:thumb

:hug It's hard to see our kids hurting. Our family just went through an awful illness -- all five of us. We were essentially quarantined here for a week, missing out on all activities. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, aches -- no appetite for days.
She will get better. I might suggest looking into ways to boost her immune system . . . after she's able to eat again, some yogurt would help her tummy bacteria.

Thanks for the hugs. :hug I hadn't thought of the teaspoon of water idea. I let her suck on some ice chips, but she still threw up. :ohno I think your right about the fever being a good thing; I remember her doctor telling me that a long time ago. Only if it gets too high, should I do something.

A fever is a sign of your body fighting an infection. Keep an eye one her though, I had two that was sick for the longest time. Both ended up with pneumonia and one actually ended up in the hospital. She was ok in a couple of days.
Also, with my 8 year she is sick on and off, it's allergies. She gets earaches, headaches, stomach is upset (drainage) and dizzy.
Hope she feels better will keep her in my prayers. :hug

Well, she woke me up this morning at 3:00 a.m. :doh She was complaining of a sore throat. I got up and took her temp, and it was 103.5. So I gave her some Tylenol, and it brought the temp down to 102.5 :rolleyes So, I took her to the doctor expecting for them to tell me she has strep, but no, she has a bad case of the flu. She was prescribed Tamiflu, and she has to take it 2 times a day for 5 days. Doc said it should knock it out within two days.
Anyhoo, she's laying in her bed feeling miserable, so hopefully this medication will give her some relief. Her favorite fruit is clementine, and I just happened to buy some yesterday, and that's the only thing she will eat right now.
