The next windows couldn't be big a disappointment as Vista has been, could it.

Sounds pretty underwhelming. I can't believe they'd make something as silly as making your browser bookmarks portable a big deal. I use Portable Firefox and the Foxmarks plugin. I already have my bookmarks available on any computer (and not just Windows ones, either).

Like a lot of the "new" features Microsoft trotted out for Vista this is all pretty old hat. When was the last time Microsoft actually brought out something cutting-edge? People will wise up in the not-too distant future, I think.

I have no intention to go to Vista. I was seriously underwhelmed. And the performance was worse in many regards.

same here. I'd put windows 2k on my computer if I still had the disc.
That'd be cool, win2k on a 2.9 Ghz Celeron with 512MB of ram and a SATA hard drive...

I was running 2k until very recently. If it wasn't for force upgrades I'd still be running it. *Blazing* fast on even my single core 2.6Ghz P4. :D

It sounds like maybe MS is trying to go into the network operating system arena too, thereby stepping into the old Novel NetWare territory. Just another way to rehash old ground. The fact that they're doing it this quickly though shows that even MS knows vista is a flop, even if they aren't admitting it.

Vista appears to be like DOS 4. My company was selling repackaged DOS. When DOS 4 came out, we kept selling DOS 3 because there was no demand for DOS 4.

My guess is that if MS didn't have the deals to package Vista with new systems, sales wouldn't be that great.
