This won't effect (affect?never get these 2 straight) me.'effect' is from the outside in.
The performance had an effect on me.
'affect' is from the inside out.
The actor affected the mannerisms of his character.

We have Molalla Net out here and they boosted our speed a few times. Just recently they brought our download speed up to 6 Mbps with an upload speed of 1 Mbps. (1000 Kbps = 1Mbps. Dial up is 56 Kbps and DSL is usually in the 700 Kbps range)

affect and effect are tricky ones. Both can be nouns and verbs.
Effect:
Could the new program effect the type of change that's desired? (verb)
What was the effect of the new program? (noun)
Affect:
The dog showed the normal affect to the training. (noun)
Let's see if we can affect the outcome with a new game plan. (verb)
I usually stick to using 'affect' as a verb and 'effect' as a noun and that's pretty safe.

I have AT&T but all they presently offer in my area is my current dial-up. It had been Bellsouth but AT&T consumed them. Twice since they bought them out my bill has been raised by three dollars. And that has just been less than a year now. :scratch I'm no faster and can't get any faster but I'm paying more . Oh well, I guess they found they had no competition YET.:heh
