Hey all! I'm hosting a fondue party for the ladies at our church in a few weeks! I'm soooo excited!! I love fondue and sharing it with others. I have 2 metal pots for cooking with oils, a few ceramic pots for cheeses, AND I'm going to fire up the chocolate fountain for dessert dipping!
There are going to be about 15 of us (give or take) so I don't think I want to have it be a sit down event, but more of a walk around and mingle (and dip!) shin-dig. I've never hosted a fondue party on this scale, so I wanted to ask what you might know. Have any of you done this before? What worked and what didn't work? Do you have any fun recipes to share?
Waiting in anticipation!! :)

We did this over new years. A good thing to remember is some things don't taste well with certain cheeses. So when looking up recipes make sure you find out what to serve with it.
Lots and lots of bread. I had some type of artisan bread and some kind of hot pepper bread. :drool
another thing you can add to your party is a pu pu platter. It's a mini grill. If you are not to sure what it is google it :thumb

Hi Lisa :wave
We hosted a fondue party just before Christmas for friends and neighbors. The hit was the terriyaki beef that DH cut into rectangular chunks and marinated over night, mmmmm. Yummy! Everyone LOVED them, and they didn't take long to cook in the hot oil. Then he did chicken in a different marinade, but everyone always loves terriyaki best cuz' it's sweet!
The cheese sauces are easy and hard-crust bread works best :thumb
Have plenty of sterno on hand! And have fun :yeah :yeah :yeah

Lisa, That sounds like so much fun. Here's a link I found: http://www.greatpartyrecipes.com/fonduetips.html
(BTW, guess what I got for Christmas in a large box that was shipped to my door? (Hint: It was sent from Jamaica.)

Does anybody have a cheese recipe that doesn't reek of wine?

Take a garlic clove and chop it in half. Rub it all over the inside of your fondu pot.
Place the pot on a hot stove and add a bit of sparkling apple cider. 1 cup
When heated, add a dash of powdered mustard
Add a bag of shredded swiss, heat until melted.
Add a bag of white extra sharp sheddar -mix well and heat until melted
Remove from stove and place on fondu sterno/candle.
Serve with sliced red and green apples and torn crusty bread.

Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies! :hug I've done fondue parties on a smaller scale.. 4-6 people around a table. Bigger seems to be more of a challenge. I'm considering one (or two) of those Rival electric fondue pots. Saw some great reviews on them.. do any of you have one? If so, do you like it?
