I like Bob Jones for some subjects (currently just math and Vacation Stations, but plan to expand next year). My question is, other than the Student Textbooks, which books have you found necessary to teach? The Teacher's Editions? What about the Materials Packet, Tests, Answer Keys? Then there's the various materials under "Recommend Materials" . . .
What is really worth the money and effort and time?
Thanks!

That's okay -- I could see that being the case . . .
Thanks for the feedback.

I use a lot of Bob Jones. Mostly for K-6.
For my older son in 10th grade I only use BJ for History and Literature.
I do buy all of the recommended extras (flip charts, manipulatives, cd's, etc..+ worktext, teacher guides, tests, keys, (can't grade the work or teach effectively without them.) for K-6 except for the extra reading type books. We don't usually have time to do those anyway. I use the extras to enrich the lessons so it's not a waste for us.
I like BJU, My older son used the entire curriculum until last year. He has SAT tested Post-High school in most subjects since 5th grade. The subjects he didn't test post-high school were always at least 2-3 years above his grade level.
Very good curriculum.
We switched to Apologia science cd-rom, teaching textbooks cd-rom for math, and Splashes from the river for grammar DVD for his high school because they are more self-led and he prefers that now that he is older.
Still testing PHS so I am pleased with the curriculum choices we have made.
I know curriculums can be expensive, but we are educating our children so with that in mind, my husband and I look at it as an investment in our children.
Every year we use our tax returns to buy the curriculum for the next school year.

It sounds to me like you are doing the right thing for you children. Especially in this day and age. Bob Jones University is a great institution. :hat
