I have a friend who is JW. According to her watchtower literature, it claimed that the early christians did not believe in trinity, and that it was the early Catholics who came up with the term trinity.
But when was the Quran written? and did it claimed that the early christians did in fact believe in trinity? Doesn't the Quran prove JW wrong about what the early christians believed in?

The Koran/Quran "however it is spelled" wasnt compiled until the 7th century around 630-650. Ive never read it so I cannot say what it say's but I wouldnt rely on it for any truth.

Actually, the Quran gives Muslims the impression the Christians worship three different gods, which is the same argument the Jehovah's Witnesses try to make.

The official Quran (there are 7 renditions) was compiled by Caliph Usman and completed in 705 A.D. Muhammad admonished Christians to accept the Scriptures and probably appealed to Judaism for his concept of Allah. He apparently thought the Trinity was the Father, Son, and Mary. And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, 'Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah'?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, though I know not what in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden. [5:116]
O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger from Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not "Three": desist: It will be better for you: For Allah is One God: Glory be to Him: (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. [4:171]
Tell your JW friend to read Sura 4 and then read the Protoevangelium of James sometimes referred to as The Infancy Gospel of James. Muhammad pulled from many sources including apocryphal Christian literature. Muhammad did not have any idea of what the Bible teaches. It is thought by modern scholars that since Muhammad prophesied while covered with a black blanket and suffered seizures he suffered from epilepsy. In other words Muhammad is less than a reliable source.

Correct. Except I don't necessarily agree he pulled the concept of allah from Judaism. Don't forget that Muhammad was a member of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca and that the arabs and the Jews lived along side each other in muslim’s most holy city The kaaba was there already with it’s black meteorite. Also, the existing religion (other than Judaism) was worshiping allah and his three daughters....Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Manat. The kaaba was a stone and marble structure built in Mecca and it housed 360 different idols one for each of the lunar calendar days. The cornerstone of this building is the black stone meteorite. They believed if they kissed the rock it would take away their sins. They believed this black stone was actually a god which protected their tribes. This is the stone modern muslims kiss when they make the haj or pilgrimage to Mecca. Talk about mish-moshing things around.
The Quraysh tribe of Mecca and other arabs worshiped the following pantheon of gods. Five were the most important: Uzza, Allat, Manat and Hubal and the fifth and highest was allah. The first three were female and allah’s daughters and formed a tritheistic relationship. Hubal was the moon god. He originated in ancient Babylon. Notice the symbols on today’s muslim countries and flags. It’s the crescent moon. This represents Hubal the moon god. It’s called the hilal. The star represents Uzza. She was the morning star goddess. Hubal is the god of the black stone meteorite. The Quraysh tribe also, after kissing the black stone, ran down and threw stones at the devil. That's what modern muslims do today when they make the haj. Remember this was the tribe Muhammad came from so this is the religion he practiced until he had his “night of power” visitation when he was about 40.
His mother turned him over to a nursmaid when he was young to be taken out into the desert and he claimed he was constantly tormented by unseen beings (jinn) who pinched him, hit him, and said mean things to him. This scared the nursemaid and she wanted him returned to his mother. Muhammad suffered these bouts with unseen entities, epileptic seizures, or whatever his whole life. Muhammad thought he was either nuts or possessed and tried to kill himself. It was his wife, Khadija who convinced Muhammad he wasn’t crazy or possessed but that he had received a holy revelation from allah. Khadija was 15 years older than him and had been married twice before. They married when he was 25 and she was 40.
Anyway, back to Muhammad mixing of the Meccan polytheistic religion with islam. This is where the “satanic verses”come from. Remember them? muslims believe that Muhammad came under the influence of satan and that’s where these verses came from. Remember when a muslim named Ahmed Salman Rushdie dared to print these verses? This caused a “fatwa” to be issued against him calling for his assassination. To this day he has constant protection from the British Secret Service.
By having “another” revelation and combining islam with the aforementioned polytheist religion Muhammad appeased his own family members and thus appeased the people of Mecca. This newest revelation turned into the “satanic verses”. He had so many revelations that he was eventually ran out of Mecca and went to Yathrib aka Medina.
Now this Kerry like flip flopping caused Muhammad problems with his family members and fellow members of the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. They got really ticked off at him. They teased him, mocked him and caused him all sorts of trouble. In fact, they used his back and forth message to disregard his teachings all together. Finally they had enough and drove him out of Mecca all together.
However, when his disciples in Yathrib, or Medina as it’s known today, heard about this they got really ticked off and rebuked Muhammad. Guess what happened? Lo and behold he had ANOTHER revelation from allah which said they had to go back to monotheism. Geez sounds like this allah can’t make his own mind up doesn’t it? Muhammad explained away the inconsistency of allah’s messages by saying allah could cancel a previous revelation. Muhammad had no choice. I mean if allah is god then how can he be so wishy washy? So Muhammad’s “revelations” received allowing the worship of allah’s three goddess daughters became known as the “satanic verses” and have been suppressed since the earliest inception of islam.
Yathrib aka Medina was established by Jews. It was a Jewish community before it was an arab or muslim one. This is not commonly taught or known. They (the Jews) worked their butts off and established a flourishing city. This attracted arabs who came for the jobs and to make money. Judaism was popular in parts of the Arabian Peninsula long before Muhammad came along. The author Guillaume in his book, “Islam” writes and I quote:
“At the dawn of islam the Jews dominate the economic life of the Hijaz (the sacred eastern section of Arabia that contains Medina and Mecca). They held all the best land . . . At Medina they must have formed at least half the population. There was also a Jewish settlement to the north of the Gulf of Aqaba . . . What is important is to note that the Jews of the Hijaz made many proselytes (or converts) among the tribesmen.”
islam does not recognize the Holy Trinity, Jesus' divinity or His death on the cross. islam says Jesus was a great prophet and favored messenger of god (allah thus lowercase) and a precursor to Muhammad.
