The only parts I haven't gotten to are some of the minor prophets. Much of the rest, I've read multiple times, and I've read significant portions in the original languages.

I admit, I'm only over a year in being a christian thus not everything is revealed to me yet but...how do you read [no offense God :) ] the boring/harder books espiecially in Old Testament? Sometimes I have the best intent to read it but about ten minutes into a boring book, I almost wall asleep. I would like to read it whole to know God better but it's hard.

On my 4th reading. Takes me about 3-1/2 years of daily reading to read through it one time.

Ready2leave: The way I got through what started out being boring was to commit to read every word, so I read through all the hard-to-pronounce names (genealogies), etc. I'm so glad I stuck with it. I always get something out of it no matter where I am. Stay with it. The Lord will bless you!

I understand what your saying. Only been a Christian 2 years. When I was reading all the genealogies in the Old Testament I chuckled to myself and asked God forgive me if I don't say these names right.

OK, here's my soapbox. Please bear with me...

You should really, really, really, really read ALL of God's Word!

When I had finally finished the OT, God really opened spiritual doors for me. Remember that every word is God inspired. Each time before you read, ask God to open the Word to you. Even the times when you think you don't "get it", the Holy Spirit is putting the Word into your heart. You may have no idea now how He may use it later.

When you look at the Bible as a whole, you can realize that there are no "minor" books, no verses less important, no part that should ever be left out. God spoke every one of those words. Remember this is a super natural book written "outside of time".

The parts you may think of as boring can be very enlightening when you see how they fit into God's plan as a whole. I can understand how hard it can be to keep going through some parts because the first time through it may be hard to see why it was included as scripture.

When you can get to the point where you see how the entire Bible fits together, it not longer seems boring.

Just think, when you get to heaven, you can walk up to the prophet Zechariah and immediately strike up a conversation: " I read what the LORD had you write down. What was it like during the part where __________?" :):):):):):):):)

I hope this helps.
