Yesterday I was at a store and a woman said a cuss word around my daughter and I shot her a look. I am sure she had no idea what "my problem" was but she didn't do it again. That was all I cared about.

I love "THE LOOK"! I am very good at giving it when my kids are loud in the grocery store or at Wal-Mart and people are staring.

Proverbs 23:13-14 you are not doing that child any favors if you dont punish them when they mis behave :tsk
I have seen people whose parents have been too gentle with them and also they wonder why their kids dont honor and respect them when they get older and can cause a parent considersable grief.or treat other people and their belongings with respect.

My sister was telling me that her son would go to her and say "Aunt Nene (that's me) gave me the look" and she would ask "what were you doing?" he said "nothing! I asked her what and she said You know!" hahahaha and he knew too. He would immediately stop when I said "BRANDON!" and then give the look. I love the look. It works on my dog!! :rofl

Legally speaking, most states still have some type of "Disorderly Conduct" law whereby the use of profane language, in public, that incites an immediate breach of the peace is illegal usually punishable by a fine. Still arrestable though. I arrested someone for this very thing for calling me a "mother fornicator" to my face. Supreme Court decided long ago that police officers cannot be offended. The clerk of the store said he was offended, however, and that guy got to go to jail. I have a feeling this will get challenged someday and declared unconstitutional citing violation of free speech. Until then, it is illegal in most states.
