I have a good friend who is a devout Catholic. For years, and years, she has tried to "convert" me from being "just a Christian".
A few weeks ago, she presented me with a picture of Jesus and a booklet, called the "Divine Mercy Message and Devotional". She didn't have me open it until she left, and I sat and paged through this 'devotional".
Inside, was a prayer to the "Mother of God." It starts like this:
"O Mary, my Mother and my Lady, I offer You my soul, my body, my life, and my death, and all that will come after it. I place everything in your hands......"
and on and on it goes.
How can Catholics say, "Oh, we don't worship Mary," when they give her their very soul?
Perhaps some Catholics on this board will enlighten me, ansd others. I am concerned for my friend. She says she never prays to Jesus because he is a man, and she feels more comfortable with "women".

Here's another:
"we put our life completely in her hands so that she may take possession of it
and transform it according to her will"
That is a statement from the Marian Movement of Priests:
The Marian Movement of Priests
History of the Marian Movement of Priests
http://www.mmp-usa.net/history_old.html
The worldwide membership of the M.M.P. now numbers at least 400 cardinals and bishops, more than 100,000 priests, and millions of religious and faithful around the world.
As of the year 2000, the M.M.P membership in the U.S. has reached sixty-three thousand, including four thousand members of the clergy - bishops, priests and deacons. Diocesan priests from all 50 states are enrolled, as well as women and men religious from hundreds of communities.
What does it mean to "consecrate oneself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary"?
http://www.mmp-usa.net/consecration_mary.html
By the act of consecration for priests and the act of consecration for the laity, which is the first commitment for belonging to the Marian Movement of Priests we put our life completely in her hands so that she may take possession of it and transform it according to her will. Once we are consecrated to her, we cannot dispose of ourselves freely - our life is given over to her completely. She orders everything in our life so that we may be led to live perfectly the Will of God.
The first membership requirement for the MMP is "that they consecrate
themselves to her Immaculate Heart." See link (http://www.mmp-usa.net/commit_clergy_2.html).
As I've shown above, this consecration involves putting their lives
"completely in her hands so that she may take possession of it".
This requirement is based on visions of Mary who said, "Since they have
consecrated themselves to me, they belong to me; they are mine. If they
are mine, they can no longer belong to themselves; they can no longer
possess anything that is not my very self."
(read that carefully)
If they've consecrated themselves to Mary, they've put their lives
"completely in her hands" and allowed her to "take possession of it".
"They are mine," she says, and "can no longer possess anything that
is not my very self."
Statistics from CARA (Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate,
Georgetown University):
405,450 total priests worldwide (as of 2004).
http://cara.georgetown.edu/bulletin/index.htm
If the MMP's own statistics are correct and not inflated, then that would
mean well over 25% of priests worldwide are part of the movement.

This prayer (the one in the OP) is very, very similar to a pagan prayer to "The Lady"......that they worship.
I just want to know if this isn't worship, then what is?

could you see their belief in the 'eucharist', in the future becoming the body and blood of Mary?......Since Jesus is her offspring, it would say it was REALLY her flesh and blood....? (Just a thought, crazy, I know, but then again, they do some crazy stuff)

Your friend needs to see and hear the truth from you and other believers...

My friend has heard it from me....and obviously she thinks I am the one who is "lost" because she keeps trying to convert me. She comes from a devout Catholic family. She doesn't want to hear about Jesus. She wants Mary....and the rosary, and mass, and ritual.

Don't give up on her houseoflight. Mix the Word into conversations with your friend and hopefully someday she'll find herself under conviction. She needs a friend like you, that's for sure.
