I went to visit a church this morning. It's a small church that is meeting in a house. It has about 60 or so members, but they wanted to keep it that small. They have no plans to be a megachurch or a "seeker" church! :yeah

The whole service is old-fashioned. What I meant by that, is that they sing straight from the hymnals, the old classic songs, they have one one instrument, the piano and we go from there. Sweet!

They have prayer requests! The music minister asks for prayer requests and then prays. It's been a long, long time since I seen that in a church.

They had communion, but they didn't have offering. :scratch

Then the pastor came up. He has a Minister's degree, but he's also in medical school. But the thing is ..he was so refreshing and he didn't repeat himself over and over like my other pastor does.

But anyway...I think I found my next church. My friend who left my previous church was there and had a good talk. It was good to see him again.

So...I praise the Lord for this church and I will go back next Sunday for sure! :yeah

so happy for you, FreeInHim. We found exactly the same thing you are describing not far from our farm (12.7mi) or so. We are happy with the old-fashioned hymn book singing, too, and a wonderful small congregation.
There are still some of these churches out there in some parts of the country, but they are rare for sure.

Happy for you :yeah and happy for us :yeah

The hymnal singing was very refreshing for me, since I had been used to the "performance show" as my friend describes it, for a long, long time.

I even sung. :twitch

I had not done that in a long, long time as well.

They even sung "Just as I am" as the invintational song :yeahHow great is that!?!
