Have you used them? What is your opinion?

Yes, it's good! The writing assignments are short, and the book is written to the student. I will be using Writing Strands again with my youngest child.

Yes, Pat you can. They are very good. Here's the link to Writing Strands. You would start your son in Writing Strands Level 3. When he completes that book then he'll start the next book. They explain it better at the site, how to choose which level to start at. A child younger than 8 would start at Level 1 or Level 2. After age 8 they start at Level 3, then they graduate to the following books. You can buy those books used at lots of places, try to find them used first, you'll save a lot of money.
