LONDON (Reuters) - British officials paids a psychic to exorcise a supposed poltergeist from state housing after the distressed occupants said otherwise they would leave and become homeless, a council official said on Tuesday.
Easington Council in County Durham said the family could not be persuaded to stay in the house, and that through paying half the psychic ghosthunter's 120 pound ($235) fee...

I guess England doesn't practice "seperation of church and state" like we do.:doh Not that hiring a psychic is a very "church-like" thing to do.:twitch I could think of better ways to use taxpayer money.

My first thought, too, was why didn't they get a priest to come in and "exorcise" the house? Isn't having a psychic do this pretty much having the devil cast himself out?

Most of Europe is secular these days, so a religious answer wouldn't occur to them....:scratch Besides, the psychic was talking to some of her "own", i.e. demons and they were probably happy to oblige just to be able to mislead people for the cause......:snake (satan)

Have to reply to this. Over here there are even TV programmes where psychic's go into a home with a TV crew and with the family hold a seance to expel the evil spirit - 60 min show.

They should just send the Most Haunted team in and take care of things...although they don't make ghosts leave.
Using a psychic to kick out a ghost is the devil battling himself.:tsk
