I didn't know about the boycott, thanks for posting it. I don't like the new feedback rules at all. It does leave the seller vulnerable to scam artist.

I don't think the new ruling on feedback is right at all. Why they decided on sellers not being able to leave negative feedback is beyond me, but I can't stop ebaying as it is the income to feed my family.
I wonder if my sales will go down this week????

I didn't know that sellers would no longer be able to post negative feedback...strange. But really, other than for non-payment after winning an auction (which I imagine is a rarety), why would a seller need to post negative feedback? Just wondering...I buy and sell on Ebay. I've never had to leave negative feedback as a seller. There are lots of reasons, however, for buyers posting negative feedback.

I think the new rule makes sense. Sellers who get negative feedback leave retaliatory feedback, that's not fair. I always go ahead and leave good feedback before I even get an item, if the seller left me good feedback as soon as I paid, because I know they're not one of the scam seller who leave bad feedback just because they got bad feedback. If they withhold their feedback even after I've paid, they've lost my trust and don't get repeat business.
That's just my viewpoint as a buyer. I've never sold anything.

I'm not gonna worry. As a seller, customer satisfaction is always my goal. Out of 3500 feedbacks, I've only gotten one negative, and it was after I refunded a buyer 100% of their purchase. I'm just gonna keep doing what I do and if my sales go down this week, I'm sure they will pick up next week. This is money that feeds my kids and God has been good to us since I started ebaying...

Honestly, as a buyer, I read the feedback, and if there's a few negatives but the seller does that little rebuttal thingy and explains it, then I buy from them anyway. The only time I don't buy is if the seller has a LOT of negatives, or they don't bother to add an explanation to the negatives they have, or if a buyer does a rebuttal and says they give revenge feedback, which the new rule eliminates. I feel more secure buying, I don't have to worry about being held hostage by a seller who doesn't send me an item and THEN gives negative feedback to me. I don't see why it's worth boycotting.
I'll still be buying next week! :hat

I was left negative feedback in retaliation from a seller. I paid to have an item shipped priority which should have been in 2-3 business days. This guy lied to me three times about when he shipped it. I finally received it 2 weeks afterward and when I checked the post date, it wasn't any of the 3 days he said he mailed it! I felt I had no choice but to leave him negative feedback, so he lied and said I was a slow payer. I paid for every single thing I bought immediately after the end of the auctions and had 67 sellers who confirmed it! I was so angry that he'd done this and sent the proof to eBay that I had paid him immediately after the auction ended. What did eBay do? Nothing. Their suggestion was that the seller and I mutually withdraw the feedback. I refused because I had PROVEN that he was lying, but eBay still wouldn't remove his feedback unless I removed mine. I cancelled my membership after that. Phooey on eBay!! :tsk

This is not a argument for or against, but only an observation and commendatory.

If you buy a hamburger from McDonald's and complain, or report Micky D to the local newspaper, BBB or any other venue, Ronald McDonald won't be putting your picture up in any other McD'd or other burger joints.

Why should an eBay seller be afforded any opportunity to effect the buying of product by manipulation or coercion? (fear of negative feedback from the seller if you don't say something nice)

Since the seller by percentages, will usually always end up coming out ahead in any neg feedback war with a buyer, they can use it to their advantage.

My solution would be that a eBay use an automated function to report the buyer acted in good faith in paying in a reasonable amount of time, as a positive, and if they are a deadbeat or otherwise fail to complete a transaction without trying to do the right thing, then leave a remark to that effect.

But there will likely always be abuses on both side, and people who don't agree with the rules of operation, no matter how they are set up.

I just hope those who do the right thing on both sides are not hurt by the new rules, as is usually the case.

Crooks get more loopholes, and the law abiding get hung in the loops...
