I guess we should make sure school field trips don't go to the Bronx Zoo, where these two male penguins who have coupled up actually live.

OK... I'm convinced. I will now teach homosexuality to my children. :rolleyes

You'd be surprised what is in some school libraries these days. Even more is what teachers have kids read. Of course, anytime a Christian organization comes forward protesting these books, they're considered knuckle dragging neanderthals, or book burning nazi's, or worse. (You always know that when they play the "nazi" card, they really have no defense).

I had a literature class a while back. We were given a list of the books that had the most attempts of censoring in the last year. I looked at it and found one that I was familiar with and knew what was in it. I asked the instructor "so you would assign this to kids under 18?" She just laughed and said "of course!"

It would be quite interesting to hear her tell 10th graders what S&M is before they started reading the book.

The penguins don't have a political agenda...they're just homosexual penguins. Homosexual orientation does occur throughout the animal kingdom, not just in human beings.

That said, I'm not sure that there need to be children's books about the gay penguins. But I'm not sure that kids read into the story the same political agendas that parents might see...for them, it's a story about two penguins hatching an egg.

How would the kids visiting the Bronx zoo know that they were homosexual penguins...unless those with a pro-homosexual agenda made it into such a big deal?

If it's just about two penguins, then fine. Somehow methinks the homo aspects are showcased.... :hat

I'm really sad that someone would even illustrate it. That Is so wrong.

So children aren't influenced by what they read?
