Pagal, I'd look at it more closely before making a definite decision to use it for your small group. I have a strong background in clinical psychology (before becoming a true Christian) and what I saw on their website when I clicked on 'About EHS', made me wonder about it. I would suggest that you take a little more time and visit www.lighthousetrailsresearch.org (or .com can't remember) You can contact them to see if they have any articles on this. There is a lot of 'emergent, contemplative' stuff out there today that has a strong appeal to the flesh, and I'd just be careful is all I'm saying. :)

Lynn,
Wow, THANK YOU for your insight and link. Yes, you were CORRECT this study had many articles that it was heavily suggestive with eastern contemplative prayer. I'm kind of suprised that one of my pastors suggested this. I'm sure he was not aware of this. If your not aware of Eastern religion/practices you don't know what to look for.
Any PRAYER study's you guys can request?????????

Hi pagal
E.M. Bounds is considered Mr Prayer. He wrote in the late 19th early 20th century, but prayer hasn't changed. It's real easy to look at his writings here. (http://www.raptureready.com/resource/bounds/em_bounds.html)
I have read some of Arnold Fruchtenbaum's studies on prayer. They are short, easy, staightforward, conservative and Biblically literal. I can sum up what I got out of it. Prayer is talking to God, so just talk to God. Use the model prayer (Lord's prayer) as a guide for general topics. Naturally there is a lot more in the study than that, but when I read it that is what I was looking for. I just wanted to know that I was praying in a way that our Father desires. I think the studies reinforced what I already knew and gave me confidence.:)

"Seeking Him" by Nancy Leigh De Moss. It's a workbook, 12-week study for women, and you can find it at: www.reviveourhearts.com
If you aren't familiar with N. Leigh De Moss, you're gonna like her; she's as biblically solid as they come. :) As you will see on the home page, she's even doing a study right now on "The Lord's Prayer"

I would say don't use it. Notice the text I cut and pasted from the website. I underlined and bolded one particular phrase. Anytime you see that phrase, best to run in the opposite direction as it is nothing but new age spirituality.
"Welcome to the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality website. Here you will have the opportunity to explore the integration of emotional health (our ability to be self-aware and love well) and contemplative spirituality (the creation of rhythms that intentionally cultivate our relationship with Jesus) into our local churches and personal spirituality."
