This past year I've gotten two elementary aged girls on and off of the bus. The family are friends of ours so I'm not charging them alot to do this (translation: I should be charging them alot more :tape ). I am thinking though that I would like to take on a few more kids next year. What is the going rate per child for this? It woulden't be worth my while to do it for the amount I'm doing it for the current people but at the same time I don't want to overcharge.
Also, what would be a reasonable amount to ask for the days that they are out of school and need to stay with me all day. This is a HUGE hassle for me because we homeschool and this totally throws our day out of wack.
This is a great way for me to make a little extra money without too much time commitment out of my day. :thumb

I would think a lot depends on the area where you are at. If you are in New York City, for example, you would obviously charge quite a bit more for any service than you would if you lived in Podunk, Nebraska, KWIM? Ultimately, I think you should break it down to a reasonable, hourly rate for yourself based on what other childcare providers are making in your area, and round up to the nearest 1/2 hour, even if it only takes you 15 minutes to do. So if childcare providers where you live are averaging like $9.00 an hour, I would figure in a little discount to be competitive, and charge maybe $4.00 each occurrence of dropping off or picking up a child from a bus stop.
For one child, that's a nice, round $40.00/week in addition to whatever else you charge for the time they spend with you.

Babies $100 a week
Toddlers $75 a week
Before/after school care $50
I am not sure how she does the kids days off of school, but I know she charges more for all day.
She does not drive the children any where, the bus drops the kids off at her door.
That is what my neighbor charges I believe.

Hi $5 to get em on the bus and $5 to get em off the bus.
If you have to watch them then I think $4-$5 per hour per child is a fair amount. Good luck I think that a lot of families could use this type of service. for some its the differnce between a part time or full time income so I think it will be worth it to them - Good levk let us know how it goes

I do family day care. My current rate is $5.30 per hour per child. The parents get a childcare rebate from our Federal Government based on parental income. I will be putting my costs up in July in the new Aussie financial year.
For this,a children are cared for, supplied with toys and other activities. One is collected from school. Parents supply the food. If I have to supply food, I charge a set rate recommended by the Family Day Care governing body.
If I have to collect children from school by car, all transport is $2 per trip.
