The reason I'm posting this in "Women's Discussions" is because I face a woman's health issue. In recent years, I've been having a yearly mammogram. This year, they discovered something in my breast that wasn't there before. They wanted to check further into it, so a selective mammogram and an ultrasound of my breast was scheduled, and performed this afternoon. The results revealed something that requires further investigation. I have no way to know as yet, but it may mean a biopsy.
I could really use your prayers, everyone. I've never had to go through anything like this before.

:hug I had a similar situation last year and had to have surgery. Thankfully it turned out to just be a cyst. Try to leave it in His hands. :hug

I hope that's all it'll turn out to be! Or, at worst, a benign tumor.

I have to say yes. Went through this last year myself. Had the Mammo, the ultrasound and then a biopsy. I know some of the feelings that you must be experiencing.
Did the docs or radiologist tell you what they saw? Dense tissue, calcifications...etc.?
In my case, they saw calcifications which can be an early sign of breast cancer, but Praise the Lord the biopsy turned out Benign!!! :yeah (over 80% do turn out benign) :)
I had the needle biopsy that is done by a computer guided machine. A specially trained Radiologist does the procedure. I forget exactly what it's called? The procedure itself wasn't painful at all. They give you lots of lidocane. I did develop a hematoma right afterwards
and had light bleeding for most of the day. They wouldn't let me go home for several hours afterward until they were pretty sure that the bleeding was going to stop, or at least not be any worse. They give you a little chemical ice pack to put in your bra afterwards. You need to be off all asprin, or anything that thins the blood for at least 10 before the biopsy. And for a couple of days after as well. Tylenol only for any pain afterwards.
While I didn't have any pain at all during the procedure, after the lidocane wore off I can tell you that I was pretty sore. Wore a good support bra for quite awhile after as the compression helps cut down on the pain. They also put in a little metal clip in your breast, or 'marker' they call it, so that when having follow up mammograms they can keep a real good eye on the area and look for any changes that might pop up. I'm not sure if my being so sore after was from the hemotoma or from the procedure, but I'd recomend asking the doc for a prescription to take after, just in case, as Tylenol didn't do a thing for me. I go back this Friday for my yearly exam. I'm gun shy now, but I know how important it is.
I'm going to post a link to a breast cancer support board. NO, I'm not saying that you have breast cancer.:hug Most all of the things that they find on Mammos are Benign as are most biopsys. :nod But this site has a really good BB with women who are really supportive. Some like us, just waiting to see if we'll need a biopsy and everything else in between. It will explain all of the tests, procedures, etc. You'll get support and info. just by reading and you'll learn a lot. :thumb I highly recomend the site and it was very comforting to me to find out all of the info. I could before having the biopsy. All kinds of tips and tricks, and things to ask your doc as well. Here ya go, this is a direct link to Bulletin Board area:
http://community.breastcancer.org/
Also check out the home page for lots of good info.
Good luck and I'll be keeping you in my prayers for B-9 results! :thumb :pray
