I was watching the national news last night Febuary 18 and they were talking about a severe wheat shortage. they said that bread could reach $5 a loaf by the end of the year due to the shortage and that we would see the price of bread rise by 50c each month. I thought I had heard things wrong and I mentioned what I heard last night about wheat and the cost of bread rising to my mother this morning and my mother said she heard the same thing.

Yes, our wheat stockplies are at the lowest point since WWII. I thought it was because of weather & acerage being shifted to corn for ethanol. But I'm not a farmer.

A dozen eggs is up to about $1.70 here. As a percentage, that's huge over the last year.
