My neighbor brought over a cd tonight for my husband and me to listen to because he wants our opinions. The cd featured a man by the name of Robert Rutherford giving a sermn that he says proves that there is no hell. He told a lot of lies, but the worse one was when he had the nerve to say that Jesus died a sinner. :faint I almost lost my supper. In a little while, we're supposed to go next door and tell him what we thought of the cd. I must remember that he is lost and that's why he is enticed by this cd filled with heresies.

Praying the Holy Spirit gave you and your husband the right things to say to your neighbor. The apostasy is everywhere and growing by leaps and bounds, and so many have itching ears, which is so sad:tsk I'll be interested to hear how things turned out:)

Our neighbor, Wendell, ended up coming over to our house. I had been so flustered and wasn't sure where to begin and I have to take the lead in these things because my husband won't. I decided, after prayer, that I would tell Wendell that I am only going to show him what the bible says. I'm not going to just give him my opinion because my opinion is worth no more than anyone elses. Rutherford claims that there is no hell. He says that the words Sheol and Gehenna that are used in the bible don't translate hell.I already knew, when he claimed there is no hell, that he would take that route. Rutherford briefly mentioned the lake of fire, but claimed it was a good thing. I asked Wendell why he thought that Rutherford went to great pains to search out and discuss the verses regarding Gehenna and Sheol, but never directed the listener to the verses about the lake of fire. I showed Wendell the verses about thr lake of fire. The bible says that those whose names are not found written in the book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire which burns with fire and brimstone. By the time Wendell left, he was saying that the things Rutherford was saying about their being no punishment for unbelievers just didn't sound right to him. He said that he grew up hearing from his mother that the lake of fire was a real place and those who refused to place their trust in Jesus would spend eternity there. This guy who sent the cd to Wendell is persistent and is really seeking to change Wendell's mind. I think Wendell is going to need a lot of prayer so that he can withstand this evil onslaught.
