Hi..I hadnt heard that much about Ravi but was impressed with what someone posted elsewhere in this forum about him and so I looked him up....
And this is one thing I have found that is truly distrubing b/c I think its getting really really confusing out there. ANd Ravi in the video posted here in this forum talks all about the EMERGENT church and what it is but then I read this......
http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/index.php?c=1&more=1&p=599
I am finding that many people that I felt I could trust I no longer can....like LAHAYE with his masonic symbloism/dates in his books, Missler (with his association with the CNP funded by REV Moon)and now perhaps someone you all have trusted (Ravi) are all not so reliable.....its like are there ANY Christain leaders that walk the walk???

I remember seeing Ravi in the pulpit of Robert Schuller. I think the doctrine of separation from false teachers has been swept under the rug.
The January 24-27, 2005, Institute for Successful Church Leadership, sponsored by Robert Schuller, will feature Jack Hayford, Bill Hybels, and Ruth Graham. The theme is “Finding and Fulfilling Your Mission: Proven Principles for Success.” Anyone who would preach for Robert Schuller, or even appear on the same platform with him, is a deeply disobedient compromiser--at best (2 John 9-11). (Ravi Zacharias spoke for Schuller in April 18, 2004; Rick Warren preached at Schuller’s Institute in 1997; and Schuller received a standing ovation when he spoke at the National Association of Evangelicals meeting in March 2004.) Schuller reinterprets the doctrines of the Word of God to conform to his heretical self-esteem philosophy. To Schuller, sin is “any act or thought that robs myself or another human being of his or her self-esteem” (Self-Esteem: The New Reformation, p. 14). His christ is “self-esteem incarnate” (p. 135). His new birth is to be “changed from a negative to a positive self-image” (p. 68). His hell “is the loss of pride that naturally follows separation from God” (p. 14). To Schuller, the most destructive thing is to call men lost sinners and thereby injure their self-esteem (Christianity Today, Oct. 5, 1984). Schuller is a universalist who believes that all people are the children of God. The fact that so many “evangelical” leaders treat Schuller as a brother in Christ is evidence of their own spiritual blindness. Christ warns us not to follow blind leaders. “And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch” (Matthew 15:14). (For more about Schuller see “Evangelicals and Robert Schuller” at http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/evangelicalsschuller.htm )

not many, I'm beginning to wonder how critical some of this is to God. It's not my place to judge their hearts, but you have to watch for the contamination of satan in everything.
My trust and faith is in no man only in Jesus.

If you listen to Ravi speak, he is always quoting from all kinds of philosophers to show that even secular minds have pointed towards truth, and that the story of the Gospel is the only truth that satisfies.
So he spoke at a church that is emergent. Maybe he wanted to share the gospel? He is never soft on the doctrine of Christ and salvation. IMO he is a trustworthy apologist.

Ravi Zacharias is not a false teacher.
Ravi Zacharias is questionable. Check out the sites listed and the people that he endorses. That doens't make him a false teacher, but would the average person discern what the truth is from the error? I think we must be extremely careful in these days. The preachers that I used to trust in the 80's and 90's are no longer preaching biblical truth. It's very sad.

I dont know this Ravi fellow, and do know of Schuller and am hearing alot of stuff that Im hearing for the first time since coming here, which just confirms my beliefs about the church being in the "apostate" condition.
Run fer the hills, have church in yer basement as did the forefathers. Im seeking one, havent found one yet.

is it silly of me to assume that sometimes people like Ravi are too busy doing good things that they don't have hours on end to go over the theology of every single person they are seen among with a fine toothed comb?
Frankly, if you have ever really listened to the things Ravi says, it would be hard for you to believe that he believes the same new age/emergent/apostate things as those he rubs shoulders with on occasion.
I do think its not a good idea if he is endorsing people without checking them out, but the guy is just as human as the rest of us and is therefore prone to mistakes. But i don't think it makes him a false teacher....
unless i am missing something... :idunno
please listen to the audiofiles on his page and come back and tell me if i'm missing something big:

No not at all. I think that probably happens alot or people have different takes on things. But the fact that he recommends books written Nouwen on his site....I mean I dont know. ...I am not saying there isnt some positive info to be garnered in some of these NEW AGE books. I have read Chopra and some others and there is a lot of truth to them, but in the end they deny Christ and I guess its just I am not sure what to do with all this. I do have an issues with people who are church leaders reccomending teachings based on other religions which we know are false.....but can we learn something form thsoe books...of course but they can also be dangerous....
I am not calling RAVI a false teacher I just wanted feedback b/c I loved the clip someone else posted and as I looked into him and found the above info........but this will cause me to look at him perhaps more critically in the future to make sure he is "on target"....

I think the question is:
Is this leader endorsing Contemplative Spirituality? (Spiritual Formation? Spiritual Disciplines? Breath Prayers, Centering Prayers, etc..)
There is beginning to be a FINE line between those who are Emergents and those who are endorsing Contemplative Spirituality.
We need to ALWAYS firmly regard the SUFFICIENCY of God's Word.
If it is not there or it is added to, then it is apostate teaching and can be tossed in the garbage!
