Well, I finally got to go out to the range yesterday with my buddy, and put 100 rounds through my new Springfield Sub-compact XD40 and am in love. Not one stovepipe, jam, mis-fire, nuttin'. Fires a little low, but apparently that is somewhat by design. Once I corrected, I was hitting primarily in the red out to 30ft. Didn't go further than that, since this is my primary carry weapon, and in reality I won't ever have to shoot it beyond 30ft. I also had the chance to shoot a Sig Sauer 2210 (I think it was), and was EXTREMELY impressed with it's accuracy. I was entirely in the red for all 7 or so rounds I fired with that one. Only probably with that one (according to the guy), is that it cost about $3500. Anywho, I highly recommend the Springfield to anyone who's looking!!

I still want a glock.
Need to get out and shoot my .22 for fun.
Wish I had some acreage out of the city for that,
shooting ranges arent as fun to me.

Curious, how do you like the .40 compared to the 9mm? I've looked at the ballistics and the other arguments for the .40, but after having fired that caliber only a couple times, I still prefer the 9mm. Did you feel like this and has it since changed for you? I think the 9 is still a cheaper round, but the push is on for th 40 it seems...
I think I even like the .45 over the .40- hard to describe, it was a different kind of recoil...more upward than backward...I tested it once only though, in a Glock, which I don't care for to begin with...thoughts?

Lot's, and I was just joking. The underlying message was that the guns were just fine, it's the shooter who needs help (also tongue-in-cheek)... One of my handguns is a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag with a 10 1/2 inch barrel. I'm always quick to explain to people that I need as long a barrel as I can get to give me a better chance of hitting anything.

LOL!
I was a marksman in the USAF, back in the early 80's, with the .38 cal revolver, M-16 rifle, and 12 gauge shotgun. I fired those weapons for four years accurately while I was in the military and haven't picked one up since. Guess I was kind of lucky to be such a good shot. I wasn't raised around guns and really never fired one until I went into the military.

I was air force, but they never trusted me with an M-16, or 12 guage for that matter. I think it was a 9mm that they had us shoot every long once in a while... a pistol of unremembered calibre. I missed marksman by one shot, if my memory serves me correctly. The only time I actually ever carried a weapon while on active duty was while I was in Ecuador for a few months, and I carried it concealed.

I haven't used that many guns, but mostly shotguns 12's, 20's, 410's, 22 rifles and the like. But when I was 16, I went out and shot some rounds of a friend's 30-30, and I was practically in love with the feel and kick of that rifle.
Ho hum.
