This is all going to get worse instead of better. 2009 July corn futures is almost 6.00 a bushel.

All this because of the price of oil going up and up and up. Just since 2001 the world seems to have fallen apart at the seams.

They are using corn to make the new gas for cars.... and all farmers are planting corn now to make some $$$..... so all other veggies wont be planted.... they will become a luxury... corn will be sold for the gas, not for food.

After how many years of the feds paying them to "plowing under" corn crops. I remember a friend I had that owned a dairy farm, and grew his own corn to feed his milking cows.

The federal government actually PAID HIM to plow part of his crop back into the ground. I could never understand that. :scratch

I will never understand our federal government why would they pay someone to plow a crop under. There must have been something in it for them.

It's all about supply and demand. If you have a greater amount of supply than demand than the price will be small, but if the supply is less and the demand is the same than the price will rise.
When the government did this, it was a way to control the price of produce so the farmers could make enough money to operate the farms.
I don't agree with this, wasting food and ground to grow it in. Some farmers actually got paid to NOT grow certain crops. :doh
This is a crude way to put it, but it is our economic system.
