This is related to the other post on STOCKING up ....which is very smart!! but i wanted everyone to see this....
CSA's are an excellent way for you to lock in a price for about 20 weeks or so on your familys veggies. If you get a larger size you can CAN or freeze for the winter or future months. Most are signing people up right now!
Its way cheaper than buying at the store and you support a local farmer who you KNOW is not putting pesticides all over your food.....and no GMO...although you may have to make sure all CSA's are organic I think they are....

Thanks for this- I've been looking to add a freezer and stock up on grass fed meat for a while now- this is a great find. Shop local!

We raise grass fed non medicated lamb. A 100 lb lamb sells for about $100-$125. Processing is around $50 per animal more for a USDA certified packer. Yield is about 45-55% after processing. I'm not sure what the shipping costs would be but any one intereted send me a PM. We will have 12-20 available this fall.

I found a place near us, with a "working" provision, where we'd actually put in an hour a week at the farm helping with the farm! Which i think would be VERY cool.. especially since we homeschool.
Im really excited about this!!

We try to buy local as much as we can. I really need a freezer. I wonder if I can ask for one for Mother's day???

Ditto wife.
I wish something like that was in my area, too.
