I don't know what I should think....first off....both of my sons are skinny....but my oldest one ALWAYS ate.....my youngest (2 years old) eats next to nothing....and since he has had a bad cold for a week now....he really eats basically nothing....he hasn't eaten anything ALL day!! I don't know what to do....my sister(who is a nurse) used to tell me that kids will eat when they are hungry....but I just can't believe how little he is eating this week....he already ate barely nothing...and now it is really next to nothing....I'm not used to this...Austin ALWAYS ate...(except when he was sick...which is how I knew he was sick)....but since Alex already eats a little bit....this no eating thing is really scaring me....are any of your kids like this??
what do you do? most of the time he will eat a bite of a hot dog....should I just keep giving him hot dogs until he is better?? sigh...I'm just worried he will starve to death...

Jerry Seinfeld's wife Jessica has a great way to get kids to eat. She even wrote a book called Deceptively Delicious. Hope you find the answers to solve that issue. I know that mom's worry. Pray, pray, pray. Praying for you also.

I would be mostly concerned that he is still drinking.

My oldest is like that. He is super skinny and hardly eats.. which is strange because as a baby is was a hog!!LOL
Have you talked to your ped about it? Make a diary of what he eats so that when you call the dr you can tell them. You would be surprised at what little they can get by with. I have to remind myself that my kids are not adults and don't need as much as I do..

:doh So, when I saw this thread I thought :thinking Whew! I'm glad she's not eating her 2 year old. All silliness aside, when your child is ill, you need to make sure he's getting the fluids he needs to ensure that he doesn't become dehydrated. When he's not sick, you can offer him healthy snacks throughout the day. If you continue to be worried, take the child to see the doc for a checkup and be sure to tell the doc all of your concerns. Also, I agree with wife that it's a good idea to keep a food diary for the child. That way, you can show the doc exactly what he is eating. Also, you may find, once you begin to document it , that he's eating more than you realized.
