Jesus accepted us at His death, we in turn must believe that Christ did this and accept the gift of Eternal life that this has provided. That is what saves us. We dont accept Christ, we believe Christ, we accept the gift, if we dont believe in Christ, we cant accept the gift.
Romans 5:8, "God demonstrates His own love for us, in
that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!"
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death!

34Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Believe in Jesus
You have to believe what Jesus did was enough to save you.
Accept the gift of Eternal Life
You have to accept the fact it took His death to fulfill the law
Receive the gift of Eternal Life
You must receive the gift, you take it and embrace all it means.
Romans 6:23b "...But the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can't
earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.
- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Salvation is a free gift, right? What is the gift? It is that Jesus paid our sin bill and therefore averted God's wrath as well as satifiy it. That is what the death accomplished - it atoned for sin, justified sinners, and propetiated God (satisfy his justice and wrath). Good. Why are there people in hell if their sins were paid and God's wrath that was abiding on them was taken away? Saying that they "didnt accept the gift" does not solve the problem because the gift in and of itself "takes away God's wrath." That is what the free gift offers. If you say "some people didnt beileve and therefore go to hell" that too does not solve the problem, because Jesus died for all sin, even their unbelief. What then are those in hell paying for? I believe they are paying for their sins that were NOT atoned for. The atoning death of Christ is effacious - it does what it was designed to do, namely "take away God's wrath." If then some people go to hell when Jesus paid for their sins, there is injustice with God because he has Jesus paying for the sinner's sin and then the sinner agian. That's not God, for he is Just and requires no more or less than what Justice deserves. Could it be that those in hell did not have their sins atoned for and thus pay for their own sins JUST LIKE the sons of Eli in 1Sam 3:14? Notice the scripture:
"Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever."
Can you say that Jesus died for those men? And if he did not die for those men (as the scriptures suggest) how can we say he died for "ALL" men?

John 16
Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt[a] in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

:)Lets get one thing straight now:), God Is Just!!! Eli's sons were evil men, and they would never be atoned for because they did not believe or have faith in God. They were not looking for the promise.
We all deserve to receive the punishment of hell, but Christ, our propitiation, paid the debt we owe for us. We can still choose to not accept that gift, just because someone offers us a gift, doesnt mean we have to accept it. Those who go to the fiery hot place have rejected Christ and His gift. When you are offered a gift you must take action for the gift to become fully your own. you must reach out and take it, God does not force the gift on anyone.

Eli's sons were evil men, and they would never be atoned for because they did not believe or have faith in God.
So then? Did Christ die for them? If not (as the verse suggests) why do you say Christ died for all men?
We can still choose to not accept that gift, just because someone offers us a gift, doesnt mean we have to accept it.
What is the gift? Doesnt not the gift in and of itself guarantee acceptence? Yes it does. The sacrifices forgives all sin and purchases faith for those it was designed for, thereby linking them with Christ though faith, where there is now no condemnation.
Those who go to the fiery hot place have rejected Christ and His gift.
This is true! What is the difference between them and those saved according to the Bible? I see it is grace. The father choose a people from every tounge, nation, and tribe, the Son ransomed them with his sacrifical death, and the Spirit seals them. As time goes on they are "called out" to believe the gospel (1Cor 1:23-24), because "they were appointed to eternal life" (Acts 13:48), and they will always believe because they are sheep and sheep arent made so because they first choose to believe, but instead believe simply because they are sheep (John 10:27).
When you are offered a gift you must take action for the gift to become fully your own. you must reach out and take it, God does not force the gift on anyone.
You're right. One MUST in fact recieve the gift it is to count. Question: Did God merely offer salvation via Christ, or did guarantee it? I think that is where you have to start if you going to find out exactly how the free gift of salvation works. Did Jesus die just to "offer" salvation or did he die to "save" people?

I think you are making a simple gospel message all too confusing. Confusion comes from the devil. Christ died for all, we have to accept the gift. You cant accept the gift unless you believe. In believing, you acknowledge you are a sinner in need of a Saviour. Then you accept the gift of salvation. Nothing confusing about that.

I don't think so (though I could be wrong). I think you're not thinking this through because you been bought up to see and understand scripture within a specfic presuppostion, namely, salvation is ultimately based on man's free will.
Christ died for all, we have to accept the gift.
You can prove your point right now if you answer the following question: Did Christ die for Eli Sons in 1 Sam 3:14? If he didnt, how can you say he died for everyone? Or how about this. If Jesus died for all, what does he mean when he says:
"for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins."
Is it poured out for "all" or "many." Futhermore, what of John 10:11..."I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.." Does Jesus lay down his life for goats, as well as sheep? How do you understand these scriptuers?

Hebrews 7:27
Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Hebrews 9:12
He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
Hebrews 9:26
Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Hebrews 10:10
And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
He died for all, but not all accept it, so then it isnt for those who dont accept it. The bible says the gospel is so simple a child can understand it. so why do we have to make it a burdensome thing to understand?

I agree, it is sooo simply. So then, does Jesus' words..."I lay down my life for my sheep" mean that he also died for goats? By the way, you still havent answered my question concerning Eli's sons. Did Jesus die for them?
"Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever." - 1 Sam 3:14

I answered your question, they would not repent of their sin. So the gift of salvation was not for them. But I still hold that Christ died for all. But we have to admit, repent, accept and receive. They died without doing any of that. What is so hard about that? All of that is in my last post that you quoted.
