I bet many of us ladies here are late night snackers...I know I am. I was wondering what your favorite sweet and favorite savory snacks are when you get the midnight munchies? Here are mine:
Sweet snack - I love to cook some minute rice and put cream/milk in it with sugar and vanilla extract. Yum! I call it mock rice pudding.
Savory snack - I like to make some toast, put a piece of American cheese, a slice of tomato, a slice of onion and some Miracle Whip on it. I had this tonight as a snack.
These two are probably my late night staples. I think I'm making myself hungry again....:aha

Toast and peanut butter. Toast the bread and while it's still hot(have to work quickly or it won't get all melty) spread the peanut butter and top it off with butter. I can eat 6 of them. I don't know what I'd do without peanut butter. Sometimes a fried egg sandwich or cookies.
Also, I read in bed and HAVE to have Dakota sunflowers seeds. Totally addicted. Won't eat them during the day much but I have to have them when I read in bed at night. DH is used to it all. Poor guy.

Popcorn with just the right amount of butter (only when I know the rest of the family is sleeping soundly and won't be disturbed because I have one of those noisy air poppers - not real big on the microwave stuff) and then for the sweet side usually just a bowl of my daughter's captain crunch :lol2

I've just had Bran & Sesame Crackers with Hommus Dip, followed by Dessert Figs. (It's very late here in Australia....I should be in bed!)
Trouble is, I'm still hungry. This is my hungriest time of the day! I usually pig out on beer nuts, but I need to break the habit....they really make you put on weight! Aaaarrgghh....I'm craving them again now.....:panic

Hmmmmm when it's late I like to take a cup of lightly salted mixed nuts, add a cut up banana and mix it together in a bowl. It's sooo good. It's sweet, salty, crunchy, mushy and very filling!
Break out the spoons! :drool

chocolate candy
When I fix peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I fix them then put them under the broiler or in the microwave for 30 seconds to make them nice and warm.

lately it's been vanilla ice cream with homemade strawberry jam, and chips or pretzels. Or hot chocolate with whipped cream.

These food threads are killing my diet!! LOL!!
hmmmm... I am more of a salty snack kind of person. I like chips and salsa (but I hate that crunching sound when everyone is asleep!) Or pickles and green olives.
