A spin of the Baptism thread ....I was baptised by a sprinkle and while I think I was prolly saved at a yound age I didnt do it of my own accord it was just somethin you did. I want to be baptized now but I dont have a regular church i like and I want a immersion baptism! Can a Christain friend do it for me? Or must it be by a pastor? Its something I have been meaning to do once I found a church home but that has never really happened...

Any ideas on how a girl can gert herself baptised?:hehee

Study the issue carefully.

If you are saved you are already baptized by the One who counts ... the Holy Spirit. Into the Body of Christ.

Now if you want to get wet ... anybody will do. Any day will do. Any technique will do.

Get some friends together and witness to them at the same time.

Just don't confuse this with some requirement of salvation ... we have a Saviour who is sufficient ...

Any believer can baptize you. If you want to get immersed, do it!. Have some people there to witness the event. Bless you.

Agreed; it's a little far out, but IIRC when Ernest Byner, Redskins running back, got saved, Reggie White baptized him in his hot tub. (White may have been a ministr by then, of course.)

No actually I was thinking along those lines b/c its cold. I could jump in the river near my house but I doubt anyon ewould join me this time of year unless they directed from a far! I think we ARE required to be baptized not to be saved but to be obedient....Ill hav eto read up on that other thread everyones comments...

ANyway I just feel I should....its funy - I dont know who I woudl ask b/c I dont have any close friends anymore. I hav ebeen so ill for o many years all my friends fell away and got sick of my illness being chronic...I have my BS group but I am so disapointed in them at the moment for embracing Tolle and Oprahs new book study. One I would have to do it woudl be the one I would have come! hahaha......I need to buy a wetsuit myab eand just jump in our lovely shipping channel!...

I am recalling Larry David's show where he botched a Jew converting to Christainity b/c he thought he was drowning in teh river.....hahahahah hilarious! He swam out to save him form the guy pushing him under!

There was a missionary who had himself lowered with some contraption he rigged into a hole and baptized himself - don't recall the reference, one of those things you read/learn about in seminary that you don't forget.

So, I guess you could do it yourself, with witnesses there.

Anyone can baptize you in the name of Jesus Christ.

It does not have to be a certain somebody. Jesus does the rest when you immerse yourself in water and someone calls on the name Jesus and then Jesus circumcises your heart and cuts off the sin and then you are baptized into Jesus's death. After that you are a candidate for the Holy Ghost.

What???? Sorry I think you need to read some more.

You have the HS when you ask for Gods forgiveness and repent and accept HIS gift of the Cross! That si when you have the HS. That is a prommise!:)

That seems odd since originally immersions were done without any help from anyone else other than to be a witness. In fact, it wouldn't have been a proper immersion if someone was touching you because in that spot the water wasn't touching you. The method then was to lift your feet, dunk your head and wiggle your fingers and toes so that the water got everywhere and you became 'fully' wet.
