I watched bits and pieces of the "Simpson’s" the other day.
The episode was about the end times, and how Christians are trying to predict the Rapture. Homer tried to pinpoint the day of the rapture only to find out he was wrong. Anyways my point is that they were making fun of us "Christians" and how we believe that those who have repented of theirs sins and have a relationship with Jesus will escape the tribulation. They were saying when the rapture happens everyone will be "left below" instead of "left behind." Homer was running around telling people to repent of their sins because judgment is coming, the rapture is coming and so forth.
I don’t want to go into the full detail but i must say it was sad to see how the enemy is preparing the world for the Antichrist and how is making us believe we are fake and can not be trusted. After a non Christian sees this "rapture" episode of the Simpson’s, will most likely not take it serious when a Christian tells him/her it is the truth that judgment is coming and the rapture.

1. That episode is one of the best since the series jumped the shark. Not quite satire at its best, but pretty darn close. You need to learn to laugh at yourself. You'll enjoy life much more if you do. Believe me, I know.

2. Did you actually watch the entire episode? The rapture actually happens in it (of course, it gets undone, but it's clearly in a ridiculous manner and is not meant to be taken seriously), so I would have thought the episode would at least have been tolerated on here for that reason.

Are we talking just recent movies, video games, and TV shows? If not Id like to add a few that are older:

TV Shows
The X-Files- Ending of the series plot theme was the Colonization of Earth by Aliens in the year 2012, in which our Govt is participating in, or we will be destroyed all together by them.
Firefly, which the movie "Serenity" was based on, after am apocolyptic war.
( I saw Serenity mentioned, but not Firefly. Pardon the blunder if it was mentioned)

Video Games
Gears of War- Aliens have just about wiped out humans, and its a war to take back the planet.
Destroy all Humans- need I say more.

Movie (Mini Series)- Stephen Kings, "The Stand"- The world is wiped out by a 'Super-Flu' that kills 99 % of the population. The 'Good Guys' go to Colorado, led by thier 'Mother Abagail' who trusts in God, and God tells her what to do through prayer. The 'Bad Guys' are led to Las Vegas and are under the control of Satans imp.
Guess who wins!? The good guys who trust in God. The ending was a bit bizarre, but a good Mini Series.
thanks for the great thread!

It's not meant to be taken seriously, but you would be surprised how many people consider our rapture version similar to the one showed, plain rediculous. I watched the whole show and i can i tell you for sure i can not tolerate any show that mocks the word of God. The rapture will happen the way the Lord said would happen not how hollywood describes it, and for them to mock us showing only homer being raptured and not to mention a homosexual greets homer in heaven, i belive it's enough said and there was much more that could be pointed out, i would need to watch it again.

It is intersting how they don't make a show about the Muslim religion and how their " Mahdi" comes out of a well analogy. Let's see them mock the koran and we'll see what happens. Just like with the previous "mohammed cartoons" incident, an outcry would surely follow.

1. Frankly, I'm hoping God has enough of a sense of humour to see that the episode was hilarious.

2. There is nothing to suggest that the guy who greets Homer in heaven is homosexual. He's simply metrosexual (and even that's debatable - the use of stereotypical white on his clothes kind of blows the metrosexuality of the clothing).

3. There is no evidence to suggest that Homer was the only one raptured. They simply chose to only show him, presumably for ease of writing, animation, etc. (because, let's face it, any other people being raptured were irrelevant to the plot, since the rest of the family clearly wasn't)

4. I'll say it again - you need to learn to laugh at yourself, or at least at others' interpretations of a group you belong to. If I can laugh at the episode "Bart vs. Australia", I'm sure you can laugh at this episode.

True, that is a surprising gap in the subject list of The Simpsons, but the fact is that the show has poked fun at just about everything else over the years, so I fail to see why you feel your beliefs should have some magical shield protecting them from satire.

Learning to laugh is not the issue here. I have found quite a few Simpson’s shows amusing and they do crack me up quite a bit. However, when my faith or anything related to my faith is made fun of, I can't sit back and tolerate it.

Yes they may not come right out and say it but Hollywood surely knows how to advertise their message indirectly.
Yes one may say he is metro sexual, however ask everyone what they believe and you'll be surprised how many believe he could be gay.

Why would anyone else being raptured be irrelevant to the plot. If i recall correctly, everyone believed Homer and showed up on the hill to get raptured, they could've at least showed them in the backround when Homer acutally got Raptured.

From what i've seen over the years the Simpsons Show has attacked christianity the most. Surely they might throw some other minority faith comment here and there only to be on the safe side. But we cant ignore the comments and suggestions directed towars christians. They even went as far as having a "christian" character by the name of "Flanders" (sp?) on their show only to poke at "him"-us christians over and over again as much as they feel like it.

I doubt i am the only one who has found it offensive. :thinking

I don't watch The Simpson's, but find that interesting that The Rapture is even portrayed on that "cartoon". It's so pervasive and exciting. Keep me posted.

By all means, there are a lot of shows, movies and books that dealt with the subject back in the 70's and 80' that were interesting. Do you remember that series called "V"? They used holograms back then. It was cheesy special effects, but still good (spooky for me back then).

This one is aptly titled: Doomsday

"Doomsday" (2008)
Authorities brutally quarantine a country as it succumbs to fear and chaos when a virus strikes. The literal walling-off works for three decades – until the dreaded Reaper virus violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

If you would, please let me know what you came away with after seeing it.

V was awesome! I remember watching that when I was 6. I especially loved the part where the old Jewish Grandfather warns them the aliens are acting just like the nazi's did.
