What made this so hard on my family, is hubby is a baby Christian. We ended up staying awake all night that night, because hubby was convinced he was going to hell because of what they said. Needless to say I am quite bitter about the SDA. If I had known that this prophecy study was SDA, we would never gone. For a group that is so sure of their beliefs, they sure like to be secretive about their name when they invite people to their meetings.

Thank you for the link. I listened to it. This was very good and it warns us to be very careful of being pulled into a cult.

OccamsRaz,
If all you say is true, Jesus came for nothing.
We as christians are allowed to do all things, but all things may not be beneficial to us. If we continue to sin, we make a mockery of God, but we don't lose our salvation.
If you think that you can keep the laws, I would say that you are a liar. Forgive the strong wording, but only one person can do that and that was Jesus.
I will not forgive the strong wording, since it was not necessary.
Jesus promised that I can do all things through HIM who makes me strong. Chew on that for a while, get THE BOOK out and start to study to show yourself approved, lest you become proud in your lackings.

I had a visit last summer from a lovely young 20-something girl who was selling books about prophecy in order to fund her mission to another country. I was quite taken by this young gal and her clear love and devotion to Jesus. When I asked her what denomination she was (just out of curiousity) she became evasive and soon a young man joined us in front of our house. He wanted me to visit their church and after about 10 minutes of my trying to find out the denomination he finally said they were SDA. It strikes me really odd that SDA's try to keep their denomination secrety and I told them so in as nice a way as I could.
Later I did some research on SDA and I've personally come to the conclusion that they exhibit a lot of cult-like ways (for me it's a sure fired bet a religion is a cult if they take the word of a human over the Word of God and SDA certainly has done this according to their following of Ellen White). On the other hand, they seem to have the right understanding of salvation, which is why I'm not calling them a cult outright. But...I do find the fact that they hide their religion origin from others highly unusual and your experience proves it.
Same recommendation to you. Look up the word cult and learn something.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:
Eph 2:8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Eph 2:9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Act 20:7 And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
This clearly shows that God did away with the ten commandments. LOL Or, just one? I wish I could say I'm amazed.

I am amazed that the SDA was started by a group of people who picked the date for the rapture and was wrong not once but three times. I am amazed that a Church decided that Jesus' death on the cross was not enough that he had to go into the temple in 1844 to complete what Jesus said was on the cross out of His own mouth was finished. I am amazed that a Church takes another person's writings and put them on the same level as the Bible. Oh wait, the Mormons do this to and they to are a cult. I challenge you to listen to the preacher on that link and you will see that just as the Mormons and JW's are cults so is the SDA. Jesus is our Sabbath. We serve Him 7 days a week.
Just as the Church begin to meet together on Sundays after Jesus rose again on Sunday, so do many Churches today. It is not a sin to worship on a Saturday and nor is it a sin to worship on Sunday. Ellen White came up with this Saturday Worship long after the apostles worshiped on Sunday. She got it wrong when she said the Catholic Church came up with this idea. By the way she is wrong about there being no hell. Jesus, Himself talked by a eternal hell for no believers.
You do some research and you will see that you are involved in a cult who has dared to take from and add to God's Holy Word.

The SDA cult gave us Kellogg's Corn Flakes and their other cereals.
If only they focused as much on mental health as they focus on physical health...
