Hi everyone! This is officially my second post on the forum... Still haven't made my way over to the "I'm new" thread, but will eventually get to that!

I'm a Christian - have been since the age of 7, and I'm 25 now. Well, not quite sure I have always been a sincere Christian. But in the last 5 or so years, God has gently, repeatedly revealed Himself to me in a more real way than I knew Him as a teenager. It's a little sad becuase I don't remember a specific moment when I TRULY gave my life to God, since my first prayer when I turned 7, but I'm definitely on the glory train now. Hallelujah, thank you my precious savior :)

One of the books that really spoke to me about change was John MacArthur's book "Hard to Believe". I read that book in university, and I was convicted as to whether or not I could truly call myself a Christian, after having read it! It has such a straight, relentlessly tight criterium to being saved. Simple criterium but costly. And I sat and thought... wow. Being a Christian is so much more than being a goody-two-shoes, a socially adapted person, and someone who claims to love Jesus. "If you love me, you will obey my commands." And his command was for us to take up our cross and die to Him. I kinda left the self-sacrifice out of the mix. That's the luke-warm Christianity. Unconvicted christianity.

I had a brain wave this afternoon, when I was driving in my car. I was totally bored out of my mind listening to the bum on talk radio droning on about American politics to no end (I'm not even American). And let's face it, you just DON'T feel like listening to the music station all the time. And I rarely tune it to my Christian station, because its so touch-and-go with them. (more touch than go, it would seem). So the thought occured to me, what if I got into podcasting? I've only ever heard of this elusive technology called "Podcasting" (I'm a pretty tech-savvy girl! :thinking)

So when I got home, I went online to John MacArthur, because he's one of my absolute faves. I love that he doesn't mince words, that he sticks to the scriptures, and that he says the things you don't even want to hear. Signed up for his podcast (after figuring out what such a thing even WAS! :aha) one Oneplace.com, and found a whole slew of teachers and evangelists available for podcasting.

All this to ask, who else do you really like to listen to? Who are your reputable, trustworthy, Christ-centred, God-honouring teachers of the Bible?

Who else should I sign up for?

Looking forward to meeting many of you in the time to come! Especially this apostacy section is such a gem to have found - I have felt all alone in my current-day beliefs for a long time... It's nice to find a faithful gathering (i was gonna say "remnant" but that's not exactly what I mean ;)) still exists in this world gone awry.

Some other free ones that I like, besides the ones already mentioned:

Piper, Ravi, Greg Laurie, Way of the Master, Alistair Begg. There are also a lot of local church podcasts, prophecy podcasts (some are a bit out there), etc. If you go to Itunes and go to the Itunes store you can search. Be careful when going to the Christian section because there is a lot of emerging pastors in the top 100.

Try Jan Markell from Olive Tree Ministries (Understanding the Times) and Roger Oakland - (Understanding the times International). Also Jimmy de Young.

May I ask where you are from pistache? Your writing seems to be quite Australian or even New Zealand because you use "university" in this way (all my Americans would use would be "college" describing university in informal contexts)?

YBIC,

Joel

Actually, I'm Canadian... To us, universities and colleges are separate entities, with different purposes... Interesting, 'cause I'd never notice that myself...

btw, thanks everyone for such generous input... At this rate, I could skip work and not even be able to stay afloat with all the messages from people you've suggested! lol Thanks! (A lot of them I'm familiar with, but it's nice to have some confirmation from others :))
