OK ... haven't there hasn't been an eschatology (end times) thread in Bible Study in some time.

Ever wonder why it is that there is so much confusion about pre and post ... about all of the prophecy which some take as literal descriptions and others spiritualize into meaningless drivel?

Well the foundation of end times study begins with Israel and ends with Israel. When that is somehow confused with us ... the Body of Christ the Church the Bible contradictions begin. And to explain away the contradictions the replacement theology begins. And to explain away the descriptions of the future the spiritualization begins ...

Very few people actually "get it".

If you want to take a look down into the "rabbit hole" (as Alice might put it) you have to take a chance. You have to be prepared to have your mind changed. You have to set aside perhaps ... some very long held beliefs. Even if as my signature line suggests it is to see why it is you don't believe what it is you don't believe ... :twitch

Here is an online book which runs about 150 pages. The book by the founder of Dallas Theological Seminary Dr. Sperry Lewis Chafer was written at the time Chafer was traveling as an itinerant preacher with C.I.Scofield. Scofield of course wrote the Scofield Notes which are placed as a guide into the Scofield Bible.

I must say that Scofield without doubt did more to create awareness of the Rapture than anyone else in the past few hundred years.

Anyway here is the book. Prayerfully consider ... The Kingdom in History and Prophecy (http://rarebooks.dts.edu/viewbook.aspx?bookid=1250).

Not the same as a "preterist" ... but they live just down the street from one another.

You can stay for the fellowship ... but they have no consistency in their Hermeneutics so if I were you I would just read the Book for any learning.

It has bevome very difficult to "dis" the Dispensationalists ... after Israel was reconstituted in 1948.

Leme guess ... the antichrist was Antiochus Epiphanies ... right?

Paul had the same trouble in his own day as well ... they had been troubling the Thesolonians folks saying the Rapture had already happened I believe it was ... what did Paul say ... ?

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
(2Th 2:2-4)

Don't be troubled by them ...
