Youth Specialities :tskCORE 2008 Generation Change Youth Conference is "calling students to change their world" and to Generate Hope, Peace, Love, Change, A new mind, A new heart, A new me, Justice. The plenary sessions include:

THE JOURNEY OF TRANSFORMATION

CREATING A TRANSFORMATIONAL YOUTH MINISTRY

CHANGED PEOPLE ARE MEANT TO BRING CHANGE in terms of "Listen to God", "Truly Deep Justice", "Discovering your holy discontent" and "Joining God in Global Transformation"
How does Youth Specialties suggest we listen to God?
1. Get comfortable, sitting, and close your eyes. Focus on your breathing for a few minutes to get your attention, and ask God to speak to you. You might have a specifi c subject you want God to speak to you about, or you might leave it open. Then be quiet and wait. You may have a thought or a sense or an idea that you can tell came from God.

2. Then say (in your mind, not out loud) the first half of the prayer while taking a breath in, and the second half of the prayer while breathing out. It’s the idea of breathing in Jesus, and breathing out our sin. - 1&2 From My Faith by Marko a downloadable resource at the Core website.

3. ...being flexible as only youth workers can by connecting with others in meaningful conversation and participating in a Lectio Divina experience that one of our staff (Jamie Roach) led from the gospel of Luke.

Editor's note: Today's youth indoctrinated into the good works of the social gospel and the practice of mysticism. This is becoming a recurring theme in religious circles, all for the global good, but at the great risk of eternal destruction.

How can you generate the changes itemized in the introductory paragraph? Only through the blood of Christ, repentance and by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit as the believer learns to mortify the flesh and live the exchanged life as a new creation in Christ. But you won't find that at the Core Conference. But you'll find it in the Bible and at a God-fearing congregation that teaches the whole counsel of God for the equipping of the saints to the glory of God.

Spiritual Transformation Through T-Shirts, Clocks and Mouse Pads?

The first press release I received today seemed hopeful. It started out this way.

“Church leaders across denominations lament that many Christians are living lives that are virtually indistinguishable from non-Christians, and they warn that the Church is losing its impact on society,” notes GIFT president Tim Maurer. “The Global Institute For Transformation is working on the root cause of the problem by encouraging people to no longer conform to the norms of this world, but rather to be transformed to live like Christ.”

GIFT was established to encourage fervent spirituality among Christians, to help the Church reassert its relevance in today’s technologically advanced and materially-centered culture, to reach out to our youth, many of whom have disconnected from the Church, and to ease global suffering. GIFT’s mission is “Transforming hearts, lives and communities by helping people receive, fan into flame and share the gift of God.”

OK, I was with them so far. Then came the next paragraph.

Because GIFT believes that transformations require allowing the love of Jesus to work through us, GIFT has created tools to help people receive, respond to and share Christ’s love, including:

* Scripture posters, note cards and yard signs to promote the Word of God amid today’s culture where fewer people are reading their bibles.
* A creation-oriented curriculum, “Celebrate Our Creator”TM, to reassert the foundational truth that we were created by God and that He loves us and has a purpose for us.
* A children’s book aimed at instilling compassionate living, “Sheep & Goat Go To The Ice Cream Parlor”, based on the Parable of the Sheep And Goats in the book of Matthew, Chapter 25.
* “Sheep & Goat” and “Celebrate Our Creator” merchandise - including tee-shirts, clocks, messenger bags, mouse pads, stickers and more - to remind us everyday to live like Christ and to support compassionate ministry programs…

In other words, they have stuff they want to sell that will help to create spiritual transformation for Christ. The world does not need more “tee-shirts, clocks, messenger bags, mousepads, stickers and more.” Non-believers need to see changed lives, and that can only come about through the transformation brought by the Holy Spirit. I repeat: We don’t need more Jesus junk to change the world. We need authentic believers whose lives are truly different.

“A Symphony of Transformation” Taking Place Now

In Costa Rica this week, the Alliance for a New Humanity is sponsoring a “Human Forum” whose goals are the following:

San Jose, Costa Rica, March 11-13, 2008
“Scaling-up connectivity of the emergent new world order” The Human Forum; a gathering of Humanity
“At this moment, nothing is more important for healing the world than to link all those who believe that we must set forth a new narrative and create a new world where hope, social justice, peace, and a sense of the sacredness of life prevail. For this, we need to form a critical mass of humanity that influences change at a global scale, to bring together the inner streams of sensitive human beings” - Deepak Chopra

New Age heavy hitters Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson will be speaking and the goal is stated very clearly here:

“The Forum will continue 12 and 13th , at the Real Intercontinental in Ezcazu, will be structured around interactive conversations. These will explore a shared vision, the actions being taken towards its attainment, the commitments and inner changes necessary to align ourselves with the change we are seeking, and the tools, actions and next steps that would enable synergies and networks to scale up the transformation movement.”

The promotion concludes with this interesting statement:

“Also on the 14th a separate meeting of global transformation movements convened by the Club of Rome and the World Political Forum will be pursuing a round table of how best to integrate these international movements.”

How to integrate these international movements is the challenge of the hour for the New Spirituality proponents and their political counterparts. Things are moving at a very accelerated pace right now, and everyone in the New Spirituality top tier of leadership is speaking of it.
